The episode opens with Jennifer — the woman who once posed as Paula’s lawyer in prison — tracking a burner phone Rudy stole out of curiosity. She breaks into his apartment, knocks him out with his own bong, and takes off with the phone, finally convincing Rudy that Paula was right about the danger surrounding her all along.
Meanwhile, Paula tracks down Florian Kurtz, a food scientist blackmailed by Dennis and Trevor, and learns the blackmail scheme wasn’t about money at all — it was about stealing valuable trade secrets, patents, and favors across multiple victims, from zoning permits to Yale admissions.
Rudy, now believing Paula fully, reconciles with Geri, who agrees to drop her exposé story on Paula. Together, they bring Paula fresh information pointing toward a shadowy corporate entity called the Souter Group.
The Cliffhanger Ending
Piecing together the Souter Group connection, Paula rushes to a leadership retreat at Bedford Hills Golf Club, sneaking through the woods since she lacks proper identification to enter. Jennifer, still hunting her on orders from a handler named Brian, follows with a gun. Just as Jennifer moves to strike, Detective Baxter arrives and orders her to stand down — and the episode cuts away the instant a single gunshot rings out, leaving it unclear who fired and who was hit.
