Bad news for fans searching for The Recruit Season 3—Netflix has officially canceled the show after just two seasons. The Noah Centineo-led spy thriller won’t return despite ending on a major cliffhanger. Here’s what happened and why the streaming giant pulled the plug.

The Recruit Season 3: Overview

Category	Details
Status	Officially Canceled (March 2025)
Star	Noah Centineo
Creator	Alexi Hawley
Seasons Released	2 (December 2022, January 2025)
Episode Count	Season 1: 8 episodes, Season 2: 6 episodes
Reason	Poor viewership numbers

Why Did Netflix Cancel The Recruit Season 3?

The cancellation came down to disappointing viewership. Season 2 struggled to recapture the audience that made Season 1 a hit, pulling in just 5.9 million views in its first week compared to Season 1’s 7.3 million. The 776-day gap between seasons due to industry strikes likely contributed to the audience drop-off.

Actor Colton Dunn confirmed the news on social media in early March 2025, stating the show had been canceled. Creator Alexi Hawley shared a heartfelt message expressing gratitude to the cast and crew while hinting at hope for a possible movie continuation.

What Made The Recruit Special?

This CIA legal thriller followed Owen Hendricks, a rookie lawyer at the CIA who gets pulled into dangerous international espionage after an asset threatens to expose agency secrets. The show featured high-stakes action across multiple continents, with Season 2 taking viewers to South Korea.

The series starred Noah Centineo alongside Fivel Stewart, Aarti Mann, Vondie Curtis-Hall, and Kristian Bruun. It blended humor with intense spy craft in a way that felt fresh within the genre.

The Numbers Behind the Cancellation

Netflix renewal decisions typically require around 10 million complete view equivalents within the first four days. The Recruit Season 2 fell significantly short, managing only 31.8 million viewing hours compared to Season 1’s 52.3 million. By week three, viewership had plummeted 46%.
