The One About Matthew Perry: Netflix’s Heartfelt Farewell to the Man Behind Chandler Bing

Millions of us grew up laughing with Chandler Bing. Now, Netflix is inviting fans to meet the real person behind the punchlines. The first trailer for The One About Matthew Perry is out, and it promises something deeply personal.

Matthew Perry: Key Details

What the Trailer Reveals

The trailer follows Matthew Perry from a young actor chasing fame to a global star who found that success couldn’t heal everything inside. One archival moment stands out, in which Perry recalls a heartfelt prayer he made before his big break. It’s funny and heartbreaking at once, and it sums up the man perfectly.

Voices You’ll Hear

The series leans on intimate testimonies rather than tabloid headlines. Perry’s younger sister, Mia Perry Bowick, speaks on camera for the first time, as do his best friends of 40-plus years, Roger Castillo and David Pressman. You’ll also hear from people who shaped his career: former NBC president Warren Littlefield, Friends writer Jeff Strauss, actor Kevin Pollak and director Jonathan Lynn.

The series also covers his recovery journey and his advocacy for others facing addiction, which he considered part of his legacy.

A Thoughtful Release Date

Netflix has scheduled the premiere for one day before the third anniversary of Perry’s passing. It’s a quiet, respectful choice that signals the tone of the project: a tribute rather than a spectacle.
