The Odyssey Box Office: Nolan’s Epic Nears the Rs 220 Crore Mark in India

Christopher Nolan’s name is still doing the heavy lifting at Indian theatres. Even in its fifth week, The Odyssey refuses to fade quietly — proof that “Nolan brand loyalty” is a genre of its own in India.

The Odyssey: The Numbers So Far

The film added Rs 1.25 crore on its 5th Friday, a 55% dip from the previous week, pushing its total to Rs 209 crore gross. Trade estimates suggest the film will add roughly Rs 10 crore this week, taking the cume near Rs 218 crore, with a likely lifetime finish around Rs 225 crore.

Why It’s Still Pulling Crowds

Unlike broad-appeal genres, epic mythology hasn’t traditionally worked at the Indian box office — but Matt Damon’s Odysseus is riding purely on the Nolan factor. Much like Oppenheimer before it, the director has become shorthand for “must-watch cinema” among Indian audiences, turning a niche genre into a steady earner.
