Just when some fans were starting to sweat over those dipping viewership numbers, Netflix pulled the trigger. The Night Agent has officially been renewed for Season 4 — and honestly, considering the show’s track record of delivering non-stop thrills, this news feels very well-earned.

The renewal was confirmed on March 6, 2026, just two weeks after Season 3 dropped on February 19, 2026. Agent Peter Sutherland isn’t going anywhere, and neither are we.

Why the Renewal Was Nail-Biting — The Viewership Story

Let’s be real: Season 3’s opening numbers raised eyebrows. It debuted at No. 2 with 8.4 million views in Week 1 — a steep slide from Season 2’s 13.9 million and Season 1’s massive 21 million debut. That’s nearly a 60% drop from where it all started.

But then Week 2 happened. Viewership rebounded to 9.9 million, and nostalgia kicked in — Seasons 1 and 2 re-entered the Global Top 10 alongside it. Netflix saw enough of a recovery to greenlight another chapter of The Night Agent, the action-thriller spy drama based on Matthew Quirk’s novel. The show remains one of Netflix’s most reliable action franchises.

What’s New in Season 4?

The biggest change this season isn’t just the story — it’s the zip code. After filming across Canada, New York, Thailand, Türkiye, and the Dominican Republic over three seasons, production is relocating to Los Angeles, funded by a $31.6 million California tax credit.

As for the plot, showrunner Shawn Ryan has teased some compelling directions. Peter will be getting a brand-new partner — a character audiences have never seen before. The season will also reportedly dig into something much bigger lurking in the LA region, and in a bold narrative move, Season 4 will begin questioning the legitimacy of the Night Action program itself. Some Season 3 characters will return, while international locations are currently off the table for the early stretch of filming.
