Apple seems to be loving to make its displays more colour-accurate every year, implementing new technologies. This year they have already introduced mini-LED displays on iPad Pro, and they look incredible, so Apple seems interested to bring the same displays to new MacBook Pros this year.

However, getting hold of such huge production for mini-LED displays is not an easy task. So the Apple supplier TSMT, who is a key vendor involved in the production of mini-LED displays in the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro, has been able to address technical challenges for the production of mini-LED displays to be used in the upcoming 14 and 16-inch redesigned MacBook Pro models.

As reported by DigiTimes, initially, TSMT had been facing production constraints with the circuit board as well as with the adhesive materials in the mini-LED displays for the upcoming MacBook Pro models. However, after having adjusted its techniques, TSMT has been able to increase its production yield rates to over 95%.

TSMT is the exclusive provider of SMT services for the recently launched 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌’s mini-LED backlights and is expected to do the same for the two upcoming miniLED-backlit MacBook models, the sources said.

Due to issues with PCBs and adhesive materials, TSMT’s yield rates for surface mounting for mini-LED backlighting was not high enough originally, the sources noted. After changing PCB and adhesive material suppliers, TSMT has hiked yield rates to over 95% currently, the sources indicated.

As we know how color accurate and high brightness displays are with mini-LED backlighting and now MacBook Pros will get a major revamp in display as well as its design. These models are also expected to feature next-generation Apple silicon chips maybe M1X or M2 chip confirmed recently.

Also, it is expected that these redesigned 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will have a new edge-to-edge display, no Touch Bar and we could see the return of MagSafe magnetic power cable as well as HDMI port and SD card slot. A lot of excitment surrounds the upcoming MacBook Pros and with time we can eventually discover more info or leaks about them.
