The Invincible is an upcoming sci-fi exploration game from veteran AAA creators, and during today’s PC Gaming Show, we got our first look at footage from the game. Dr. Yasna, a scientist searching for their missing crewmates on a desert planet, is featured in the new gameplay.
The game borrows from Firewatch in that Dr. Yasna is on the radio with a guy named Novik, discussing what might have happened to the missing crew. The game’s pace is slow and steady, allowing players to take in the rich atmosphere and listen to the dialogue unfold.
The trailer concludes with Yasna’s death, hinting that the game may include many playable characters. The plot of the game is based on a novel by Polish author Stanislaw Lem. After a spaceship crew crashes landings on Regis 3, the book, also named The Invincible, explores the dangerous, lifeless planet.
The Invincible is being developed by Starward Industries, a studio comprised of seasoned AAA developers that have worked on titles such as The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Dead Island, and others. It was initially revealed in September 2020, and it will be released in 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The new studio describes itself as AA built with AAA experience with their website saying, “We want to pursue quality mastered in previous endeavours and to deliver it in smaller, yet even and groundbreaking projects.”
