The Indian head coach Rahul Dravid and the selectors have decided to go with the flow. Deepak Hooda and Dinesh Kartik have retained their places in the squad. Axar Patel will be playing in place of Ravindra Jadeja. The selectors have preferred the all-rounder option over a specialist batter like Shreyas Iyer. Sanju Samson didn’t get a place but Dinesh Karthik got his place as a finisher. Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel are going to return in the pace attack scene. Arshdeep Singh has toppled Avesh Khan to get a space in the T20 squad. Rishabh Pant has also retained his place. The team now has four spinners in the squad, Ashwin, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal and Deepak Hooda as a part-timer.

Australia is the defending champions of the tournament. India didn’t have a good performance in last year’s T20 World Cup. In the recently held Asia Cup, the Men in Blue couldn’t perform to the best of their potential. They lost two matches in a row against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. However, Virat Kohli’s form which was a matter of concern for some time has finally improved. In the last match against Afghanistan, he mustered 122 runs off 61 deliveries, marking his 71st international century and maiden T20I century.
