The Flash Post Credit Scene

The highly anticipated Flash movie delves into uncharted territory as Barry Allen, portrayed by Ezra Miller, traverses the multiverse, encountering an array of unexpected personalities and confronting harsh truths. Under the direction of Andy Muschietti, this installment, the thirteenth in the DCEU (excluding Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut), boldly reshapes the reality for beloved DC characters. In this comprehensive breakdown, we will unravel the implications for DC’s future and shed light on the enigmatic after-credits scene.

Decoding The Flash’s finale

The Flash movie culminates in a climactic battle, albeit with a twist. Barry Allen finds himself transported back to a distorted version of 2013, where he, alongside his newfound allies, must fight to save the world from General Zod and his Kryptonian army. In a nod to the events of “Man of Steel,” Zod, portrayed by Michael Shannon, seeks to transform Earth into a new Krypton. Shockingly, both Michael Keaton’s Batman and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl meet their demise while valiantly defending the planet.

A significant theme explored in The Flash is the concept of fixed points—crucial moments in the timeline that cannot be easily altered. Here, Barry, accompanied by his younger 2013 self, encounters a major obstacle when they discover that Batman and Supergirl’s deaths are themselves fixed points in time. Regardless of his superhuman speed, future Barry cannot prevent the tragic fate of his friends during Zod’s assault.

The Flash Post Credit Scene

Sadly, it seems that Kara and Bruce are destined to perish, irrespective of any efforts made. As Barry races through the Speed Force, glimpses of other worlds within the DC multiverse appear, featuring cameos from iconic heroes such as Christopher Reeve’s Superman, Adam West’s Batman, Helen Slater’s Supergirl, and even Nic Cage’s Superman.

The realization of these fixed points ultimately drives the past version of Barry Allen to madness, as he breaks away and becomes trapped within the Speed Force for decades. The resulting ordeal transforms him into the Dark Flash, an aged and scarred version adorned with shrapnel from failed attempts to alter the outcome of the battle. Believing that future Barry must die in order to save their mother, the Dark Flash sets out to eliminate him. However, past Barry selflessly sacrifices himself to ensure the survival of his future counterpart, effectively erasing the Dark Flash from existence.

This profound sacrifice prompts future Barry to accept that certain events cannot be changed, compelling him to undo his meddling with time. He restores the DCEU to its original state, with the exception of one Bruce Wayne. However, the film does not explicitly reveal the fate of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl or Keaton’s Batman following the restoration of the timeline.

Now, let’s delve into the emotional final moments of the movie and the significance of the last scene for the future of the narrative. Barry realizes that his mother’s death is a fixed point in time, and by altering it, he inadvertently creates the past version of himself which would eventually transform into the Dark Flash. To resolve this paradox, he must allow his mother to meet her tragic fate. Returning to the past, just after he initially placed the tomato can into her shopping cart, Barry removes it.

However, before doing so, he shares one last heartfelt moment with his mother, fully aware that his actions will lead to her sudden and painful demise. He does, however, make one change. He rearranges all the tomato cans, ensuring that when his father reaches for one, his face will be captured by a security camera, ultimately exonerating him of the murder accusation in the present timeline.

These poignant and emotionally charged events in The Flash showcase the complex nature of time travel and the consequences of attempting to alter fixed points. As the film reaches its conclusion, Barry learns the profound lesson that some things are meant to remain unchanged, accepting the responsibility for his actions and the limitations of his powers. The implications of these revelations and the fate of the characters involved leave room for speculation and anticipation of future developments in the DC cinematic universe.

To resolve the paradox, Barry must let his mother perish. In the present, he emerges from his father’s triumphant retrial and engages in a phone conversation with Bruce, who congratulates him while pulling up in an impressive car. However, to Barry’s dismay, Batman now portrayed by George Clooney, rather than Ben Affleck, steps out. Barry realizes he has unintentionally altered his world once more, leaving him stuck with what he considers the unequivocally worst Batman. On the bright side, at least the planet is no longer under the threat of terraformation.

The Flash Post Credit Scene

Barry Allen’s current whereabouts remain uncertain, and the post-credits scene offers little insight into his exact situation. However, it does reveal that Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Arthur Curry, remains relatively unchanged in this new timeline. The scene portrays the two heroes leaving a bar late at night, where Barry presumably explains the concept of the multiverse to Arthur, who possibly indulges in copious amounts of alcohol to make the complex information more digestible.

In an attempt to provide Aquaman with a place to sleep, Barry invites him to his apartment in Central City. However, much to Barry’s surprise, Aquaman expresses his preference for slumbering in a filthy puddle on the street. This particular scene serves as a reminder that altering points in time can have disparate effects, sometimes wildly shifting certain aspects while leaving others untouched. In the case of Aquaman, he remains unchanged, fueling speculation that Jason Momoa will continue portraying the character in James Gunn’s DC Universe.

The post-credits scene leaves audiences intrigued about the extent of the changes in this new timeline and raises questions about how other characters have been affected. It teases the potential for further exploration and development of the altered DC Universe, hinting at exciting possibilities for future narratives and character interactions. George Clooney’s Batman and The Flash’s time travel reset the DC timeline.

The absence of any post-credits scenes leaves the ending of the film open to interpretation, but it sets the stage for James Gunn’s creative reboot of the DC Cinematic Universe. As we conclude the movie, George Clooney assumes the role of Bruce Wayne, indicating that Barry has landed in a slightly divergent timeline. Could this mean that he has arrived in the Batman & Robin movie timeline, complete with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze?

The fate of Alicia Silverstone’s Batgirl remains unclear. Is she now transformed into Oracle? Chris O’Donnell’s Robin may have transitioned into his Nightwing phase. Does this mean that the infamous Bat Skates, Bat Credit Cards, Bat Nips, and Uma Thurman’s over-the-top acting still exist in this timeline?

Setting aside these intriguing possibilities, the broader implication is that Gunn now has the opportunity to shift or redefine the main DC Cinematic timeline, thanks to Flash’s Flashpoint-like interference. The rest of the movie universe will seamlessly transition away from the Snyderverse and embrace Gunn’s fresh vision, all explained through the various timeline-altering points in The Flash.

This reset allows for a logical explanation of changes in characters like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman. Every individual, regardless of their stage in life, can be different due to Barry’s influence during the tomato can incident. The Barry we have followed throughout the film finds himself in a new position, leaving room for the potential recasting of Ezra Miller’s character. If multiple actors can embody Batman and Superman concurrently within a cohesive context, why not do the same with Flash? This would require another timeline divergence, but the possibility now exists.

However, certain actors, such as Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and the Suicide Squad/Peacemaker crew, are expected to remain consistent across timelines. As Barry enlightens Arthur, some people retain their appearance across different timelines and universes.

The Flash movie essentially opens the door to any version of the DC universe going forward. The potential for recasting characters, retaining a few actors, adjusting the ages of heroes, and altering the world’s circumstances is vast. The upcoming Superman: Legacy could make use of this newfound freedom to create a narrative that is cohesive and captivating. The possibilities are limitless, and the Flash movie paves the way for an exciting and unpredictable future for DC on the big screen.

Superman: Legacy has endless possibilities to create a cohesive and meaningful storyline.

Regarding The Flash, it remains to be seen if Ezra Miller’s Barry will make a return in future projects. There is a possibility that Michael Keaton’s Batman and Kara Zor-El could reappear, but it is uncertain what they would remember from previous events. As for the offer of leftover pasta, unfortunately, as an AI language model, I don’t possess physical senses or the ability to eat. However, I appreciate the kind gesture. For more details, you can explore the cameo appearances in The Flash, delve into the mechanics of Flash’s time travel, and discover the journey of Keaton’s Batman from a flop to a phenomenon.

This DC show originally kicked off on June 15, 2023.
