The Callisto Protocol will receive its Hardcore mode and New Game+ feature in Feb 2023

The Callisto Protocol has the potential to be a fantastic horror game, but it won’t be so until next year. The Callisto Protocol was released to mixed reviews by Striking Distance Studios and Krafton, with some criticising the game’s short length and replay value. Others have been disappointed with The Callisto Protocol’s performance, particularly in the PC edition. Future upgrades will undoubtedly address these issues and improve the game significantly.

The Callisto Protocol is a short game, which is frequent in the horror game genre. On average, it takes between six and ten hours to complete The Callisto Protocol, which isn’t a big concern except that the game lacks replay value. At the time of writing, The Callisto Protocol does not have a New Game+ option, which is a significant letdown for fans who get to the end credits and want to play more.

The Callisto Protocol will offer a New Game+ functionality, as well as a Hardcore Mode, on February 7, 2023.

These changes should help to address one of the main grievances fans have with The Callisto Protocol, by offering players more reasons to stay playing and more bang for their buck. Even better, the upgrades will be absolutely free of charge.

Beyond the New Game+ mode and the Hardcore Mode, more new content will be introduced to The Callisto Protocol in 2023. Those who purchase The Callisto Protocol season pass may look forward to cosmetic packages in February, March, and Spring, with new story material arriving in Summer 2023. It’s unknown whether this story content will take up once The Callisto Protocol concludes, or if it will follow different characters in Black Iron, but fans will certainly discover more about what’s in store next year.

It remains to be seen whether the new content is any good, but The Callisto Protocol introducing New Game+ mode will help the game progress to the next level. Many of the game’s remaining technical concerns should be rectified by next year. Horror enthusiasts who can’t wait may want to read some Callisto Protocol reviews before purchasing, while others will be better off waiting for next year’s upgrades and possibly a price cut.

The Callisto Protocol is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
