This is the K-pop industry story that no one wanted to see happen but everyone feared was coming. Nine of THE BOYZ’s members have reportedly served contract termination notices to their agency ONE HUNDRED, citing unpaid settlements, breach of trust, and a complete breakdown of negotiations. The situation is serious — and the details are deeply troubling.

What Actually Happened with THE BOYZ?
According to The FACT, nine THE BOYZ members — excluding New — sent a formal certificate of contents to ONE HUNDRED CEO Cha Ga Won back in February, notifying her of their intent to terminate exclusive contracts due to an irreparable breach of trust. The members also requested access to their contract and payment details, but CEO Cha Ga Won reportedly failed to provide either for over a month and offered no explanation.
Rather than negotiate in good faith, the CEO reportedly counterclaimed the members’ negligence and demanded penalty fees if they wished to exit their contracts.
The financial picture is staggering. Reports indicate ONE HUNDRED has failed to pay the group billions of won since Q3 of last year. The agency reportedly even used 150 million won (roughly $100,000 USD) from the group’s dorm deposit fund. Members have been renting practice rooms at their own expense to prepare for their upcoming KSPO Dome concert, and even covering costs for staff members out of pocket.
The rot reportedly extends beyond THE BOYZ. CEO Cha Ga Won’s other labels — Big Planet Made and INB100 — are also described as being in states of capital impairment, with basic artist support like transportation having completely stopped. Artists across the labels are reportedly attending scheduled activities in their own personal vehicles.
Only member New has chosen to remain with ONE HUNDRED, for undisclosed personal reasons.
THE BOYZ debuted in December 2017 and have built one of the most dedicated global fandoms — known as The B — over nearly a decade of music and performances. Seeing the group reach this point is a gut punch for fans and a stark reminder of how badly the K-pop industry’s financial structures can fail its artists.
