The AIFF recently revealed the strategic roadmap for “Vision 2047” in presence of media in New Delhi on Saturday, January 7, 2023. This vision hopes that India will emerge as the new powerhouse of Asian football. IFF president Kalyan Chaubey and General Secretary Shaji Prabhakaran laid down this plan. It includes both short and long-term visions for the AIFF. The AIFF plans to make India a global superpower in football.

The main aim is to spread football in various parts of the country. The AIFF team traveled in the last 125 days to get knowledge about Football in India. India’s relations with FIFA, AFC, and SAFF ranked will be improved which in turn will make the country’s football better.

The short-term plan is to see where the team reaches in the next four years as said by Kalyan Chaubey. The long-term plan is to “make Football an incredible sport in India” as said by Shaji Prabhakaran.

“There are 11 topics in this vision that we have prepared. The short-term vision ends in 2026 while the long term in 2047,” said Kalyan Chaubey.

The main topics on which AIFF will be on:

  • Governance
  • Infrastructure
  • Digital transformation
  • Refeering
  • Clubs
  • Coach Education
  • Grassroots
  • Marketing and Commercialisation
  • Talent Development & Identification
  • Competitions
  • National Team

Further, vision for 2024 will be divided into six main cycles. It wants this league in the top 3 leagues of Asia and make the Indian team among the top four teams in this continent. They’ll gather the best football players across the country and the search has already started. The eomen’s Football and men’s football will be treated equally.

It also plans to go digital with the game. It aims to connect the fans across the country and earn good revenue. “We might plan something like Metaverse for Football in India. We have already seen FIFA+ in Qatar and we plan on doing a complete digital transformation of Football,” said Shaji Prabhakaran.

The National Football games is launched every two years that brings more attention to the game in India. However, it’s decided that the league structures will be changed and prime focus will be on eFootball.

They are targeting India to be among the top 10 teams in Asia by 2026.

“We would like to Qualify for U17 World Cup in both Men’s and Women’s in 2026. We have played both as hosts, but this time we want to qualify. By 2036 we aim to become one of the top 7 teams in Asia,” said Shaji Prabhakaran.

It will also implement legislative changes that will encourage governmental agencies, sports teams, businesses, and private investors to invest in this infrastructure. By 2024, there will be grading and licencing standards in place, and by 2026, a gigantic football park will be formally established.
