Few K-dramas end with quite this much mess. The finale of The Affair Was Just the Beginning takes an already scandal-ridden story and pushes it into darkly comic, almost unbelievable territory — complete with blackmail, hostage rescues, and bodies nobody expected. Here’s a breakdown of the finale’s biggest shocks.
What Led to the Finale’s Chaos
The show follows two entangled families whose secrets unravel after their teenage daughters, Ye Ji and Min Seo, discover video proof of their parents’ affairs. As accusations fly and each parent tries to dodge blame, a missing detective’s brother closes in on the girls, while a scheming divorce lawyer stumbles onto damning evidence of his own.

The 3 Biggest Finale Twists
1. The kids catch the parents red-handed. Ye Ji and Min Seo discover their parents’ affair on video, triggering a chaotic blame game where each adult deflects responsibility rather than owning their actions.
2. Kyung Hee takes matters into her own hands. After a blackmailing lawyer and a vengeful sibling separately threaten the family, Kyung Hee leads a fierce rescue effort, resulting in multiple unintended deaths that the families agree to bury together — literally and figuratively.
3. The police close the case on the wrong conclusion. Investigators piece together a version of events that satisfies the paperwork but misses the real truth entirely, leaving the actual perpetrators publicly unscathed while everyone else’s reputations collapse.
