India Strikes Strong in 1st Test Match: Dominates Australia with Historic Innings and 132 Run Victory

The Indian cricket team lived up to its reputation as it thrashed Australia in the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series that took place in Nagpur on February 11. The match, held at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, saw India beat Australia by an innings and 132 runs, giving them a 1-0 lead in the four-match series. The game was a complete domination by the home team as they dominated the match from start to finish, leaving the Kangaroos in shock.

India got off to a strong start, taking a commanding first-innings lead of 223. The Australian team was then bowled out for just 91 in the second session, thanks to a five-wicket haul by off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin’s probing length and impressive bowling saw him run through the Australian top order and take his 31st fifer in just his 10th over. Ravindra Jadeja (2/34), Mohammed Shami (2/13) and Axar Patel (1/6) completed the job and ensured the Australian team was unable to mount a comeback.

Australia’s first innings total of 177 was no match for India’s impressive 400, with standout performances from Rohit Sharma (120), Axar Patel (84), and Ravindra Jadeja (70). The left-handed Patel, who was overnight 52, displayed his calm and controlled batting skills to provide India with a solid depth at number 9.

Debutant off-spinner Tod Murphy was the pick of the Australian attack, returning with impressive figures of 47-12-124-7. However, it was not enough to stop the dominant Indian team.

India Claims Victory in Test Match Domination Against Australia

The social media erupted in celebration of India’s win, with fans and cricket enthusiasts taking to Twitter to express their joy and excitement. Brief scores of the Test match were Australia 1st innings: 177 and 2nd innings: 91 all out in 32.3 overs (Ravichandran Ashwin 5/37) and India 1st innings: 400 all out in 139.3 overs (Rohit Sharma 120, Axar Patel 84, Ravindra Jadeja 70; Todd Murphy 7/124).

Twitter was buzzing with reactions from cricket lovers, experts, and former cricketers who praised the performance of the Indian team. Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag praised the performance of the Indian cricketers and said “Well done, Boys.” He went on to say that India batted skillfully, which is what Test cricket demands, and that Australia seemed to have lost the match before it even began.

Sachin Tendulkar, who is also known as the “God of cricket,” was also impressed with the Indian team’s performance. He said, “India were 5 down even before we got the lead, and now we are ahead by 223 runs. Speaks a lot about our batting depth and contributions by our lower order. Well done @akshar2026 & @MdShami11!”

Krishnakumar Dinesh Karthik, an Indian cricketer and commentator, praised the Indian team for their dominant win. He tweeted, “India dominated the Test from the start to finish. Terrific start to the #BorderGavaskarTrophy!”

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer congratulated Team India and said, “Never judge a pitch until both teams have batted on it. If both teams struggle, it’s the pitch. If just one team struggles, it’s the skills. Well played Team India #INDvAUS.”

Venkatesh Prasad, a former Indian cricketer, coach, and commentator, expressed his happiness and congratulated the Indian team. He praised Ravindra Jadeja’s excellent performance with both the bat and the ball. He also praised Rohit Sharma for his brilliant century and the all-round skills of Ashwin, Shami, and Akshar Patel.

Anil Kumble, a former Indian cricket captain, coach, and commentator, also praised the Indian team for their complete dominance and congratulated them on their stupendous win. He tweeted, “Complete dominance by #TeamIndia to seal a phenomenal win.”

The Indian team’s dominant victory in the first Test match against Australia has given them a reality check and has left the visitors in a state of shock. With this victory, the Indian team has set the tone for the rest of the series and has shown their ability to win against one of the strongest cricket teams in the world.
