Terraria Has Managed to Sold 35M Copies On All Platforms

In 2020, Wes Fenlon wrote, “After nine years of free updates, no paid DLC or microtransactions, Terraria remains an astonishingly good deal.” Even one year later, this remains true as the 2D crafting sandbox has sold now nearly 35 million copies. Among them, 17.2 million copies were on PC, 8.5 million on the console, and 9.3million on mobile.

On Terraria’s official forum, this was informed as a part of an update from the developers. They wrote, “We remain hard at work on the litany of updates across the board as we press forward into 2021. Things are really starting to come together, and we are beyond excited for what the rest of the year has in store. That said, we did our usual numbers updates to close out 2020 and we wanted to share that once again – thanks to your beyond-amazing support – Terraria has reached another unit sold milestone!”

The developers have also pointed out that recently Terraria took the number one position on the Steam250’s ranking of games by the user review, knocking out Portal 2 from the top spot. It is worth noting that the algorithm of Steam250 places high importance on the multiple number of reviews, while the similar ranking of SteamDB has Portal 2 in the top spot, whereas Terraria is now at a very respectable number five behind Factorio, Hades, and The Witcher 3.

Last month Re-Logic, the Terraria studio declared that it is going to cease its development of the game’s Stadia version before reversing the decision some days later. But now, Terraria is available on the streaming service of Google.
