Held online from August 22 to 26, 2024, the qualifiers saw Team India emerge as the frontrunner, dominating competitors from Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

The OXY 2024 event, organized by the Russian Esports Federation and officially known as the “Открытые киберспортивные студенческие игры” (Open Esports Student Games), is set to be a major international competition featuring 38 national teams. India’s debut at this event highlights the country’s expanding influence in the global esports arena, bringing to the forefront the skills and dedication of Indian players on an international stage.

Team India’s journey to this triumph began with the National Esports Championship 2024 (NESC24), one of India’s largest and most prestigious esports tournaments. Held from August 12 to 19, 2024, NESC24 culminated in Team Avengers, comprising Abhishek Yadav, Dhruv Kohli, Subhadeep Das, Nagaraj, and Manav Kunte, being crowned champions. Their victory at NESC24 paved the way for their success in the South Asia Qualifiers, ensuring their participation in Sochi.

The third edition of OXY promises to be a grand event with a substantial prize pool of 5,000,000 Rubbles (approximately INR 45 lacs) for podium finishers.
