Tata Motors end the controversies on Black Bird. Now, we are going to dig out the exact truth about the Black Bird. It was before the pandemic, while Tata Motors was thinking to launch a competition against Creta. Tata Motors first set to collaborate with a Chinese car brand company Chery, which was planned to come to India. The name of the car was Black Bird and they had decided to launch on the big segment. We have previously seen this in Toyota’s collaboration with Maruti, and Volkswagen with Skoda.

If you give a close look then Tata Motors technically has three platforms the first one is the popular Nexon, the second is the Alfa platform that launches Punch and Altroz, and the third one is Omega platform that launches Harrier, and Safari.

Now Tata observes if they magnify the Alfa platform to launch an SUV like Creta, then it becomes difficult. Tata comes to the Omega platform by making the size small but due to the land-road technology, others make the platform more expensive. It also becomes less profitable.

After all these things they set out to join Chery, but the situation becomes worse after the COVID-19 pandemic situation, and the India- China Galwan battle. As a consequence, the investment has been reduced by the Indian Government, so the partnership got canceled, and the Black Bird is not going to launch.

Tata decides to launch a new SUV named CURVV. CURVV is not only going to launch an Electric version but also Petrol & Diesel version. This car will be retailed by 97 percent. This is going to be properly that is going to compete with the other SUVs. The car features a sloping roofline, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, 360 camera, ADAS features, giant Touchscreen infotainment, CarPlay, wireless charging, Rear AC vents, and leatherette upholstery.

So, we are going to get Nexon features and many more. We are expecting one engine in between the three, one is a 1.2-liter Turbo-Petrol with 120 bhp, the second is 1.2-litre Turbo-Petrol with 140-150 bhp, and the third one is 1.5-litre Turbo-Petrol with 150-160 bhp with aromatic DC Air gearbox. The diesel engine will be 1.5-litre 110-120 bhp with manual 6 MT with 6AT. This time they are focusing more on clarity as the customer has no such confusion when they come to buy the SUV.

Tata SUV: Price

The price of the latest gigantic SUV will vary between Rs. 12-22 lakh. For Tata Motors this is going to be an exciting development. As we have discussed, Tata first launch the electric version, then it is going to launch the petrol and diesel version.

We are expecting the electric version will launch between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024. We are expecting within 6-8 months the petrol or diesel version will launch. It may be a little disappointing but the truth is we have to wait a little longer.
