Over the years India has produced several batters who have made the country proud. Among the current players, Virat Kohli smashed his 72nd century and Shreyas Iyer emerged as the highest run scorer in 2022 across all formats. As another year came to an end, let’s have a look at the best runscorers over the years for the Indian team.

1. Virat Kohli (2011)– 1644

2. Virat Kohli (2012)– 2186

Star cricketer Rishabh Pant was on his way to his hometown Roorkee from Delhi and met with an accident. He lost control of his career and hit the divider. The car caught fire and was immediately damaged. He was admitted to a private hospital in Roorkie but got referred to Dehradun hospital immediately. As per reports he is out of the danger zone but suffered injuries on his head and a ligament injury on his right ankle.

The BCCI is in touch with his family and their medical team is on talking terms with the doctors who are treating him. He will be undergoing an MRI at the Max Hospital in Dehradun to acknowledge the extent of his injuries and decide on further treatment. He has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee, and hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe. he suffered abrasion injuries on his back.

As per Hardiwar Rural SP SK Singh, Pant fell asleep behind the wheel while he was driving to meet his relatives in Roorkee. The accident took place 1 km ahead of the Narsan towards Roorkee.

As per the state government, Pant’s car met with an accident near Mohammadpur Jat which is under the Mangalore police station area in Haridwar district around 5.30 am.

An air ambulance will also be provided if required.” as per the statement issued by the State government

Dr. Ashish Yagnik said that Pant is stable at the moment and a medical bulletin will be issued after the examination by the doctors. The star cricketer’s car Mercedes burnt completely in Roorkee. He will undergo plastic surgery for his injury.

Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has been nominated for the ICC Men’s T20I cricketer of the year 2022 along with Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan), Sam Curran (England), and Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe). The winner will be chosen by online fan voting and ICC Voting Academy. The voting will be starting in early January 2023 and the winners will be announced by the end of the month.

Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Rizwan gathered 996 runs in 2022 having a spectacular year in the T20 format. He smashed 10 half-centuries and scored 175 runs in T20 World Cup. His average was 45.27 in T20Is and became one of the best contemporary batters from Pakistan. His best performance was against England in T20 World Cup as he scored an 88 off 51 deliveries.

He performed consistently, and in 319 T20s, he has mustered 7,800 plus runs with fifty half-centuries. Sadly, he had a poor show in 2022, that destroyed the interest of IPL franchises in acquiring his services.

2. Priyank Panchal

Priyank Panchal has had a good track record in domestic cricket but failed to acquire a place in a franchise. Panchal has been leading the Gujarat team in domestic cricket and has a high chance of representing India in Test cricket. He amassed 12,270 runs in domestic cricket and his leadership skills were spotted while he guided India A.

3. Abhimanyu Easwaran

India A skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran didn’t find a buyer even when his base price was Rs 20 lakh. He is a member of Team India and expected a franchise to buy him. He made his domestic debut in 2013 and scored 9,680 runs in three formats altogether. He was the replacement for Rohit Sharma in the recently concluded Test series against Bangladesh and still no franchise showed interest to acquire this talent.

4. Dawid Malan

Dawid Milan is one of the best batters from England in all formats. He was once the top-ranked batter in the T20I rankings which earned him an IPL contract. He got only one match to play where he scored 26. Despite being the leading rin-getter in the Hundred 2022, no franchise showed interest in acquiring him.

5. Baba Indrajit

Baba Indrajit made his first-class debut in Tamil Nadu in 2013 and has been one of the most important members of the batting line-up. He mustered over 4,000 runs in first-class cricket with a very good average of over 52.44. He was featured in 23 T20s and scored 340 runs. In 2022, he was chosen as the wicket-keeper for KKR and could only score 21 in three innings. His poor performance led to Kolkata Knight Riders releasing him.

6. Priyam Garg

Priyam Garg led the U19 team in the 2019-20 edition and the team finished as the runner-up. He was later picked up by SRH in 2020. He scored 133 in 14 games. In one match he did score an unbeaten 5. In 2022, he got to play only two games and amassed 46 runs. His form for UP in domestic cricket wasn’t the best and none of the teams took the risk of bidding on him.

7. Shashank Singh

Shashank was part of the Rajasthan Royals squad in 2029 and 2020. He got to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad and his unbeaten 25 off six balls against Gujarat Titans grabbed everyone’s attention. He smashed three sixes consecutively to Lockie Ferguson but unfortunately couldn’t continue his performance n the next matches.

8. Sanjay Yadav

Last year, Yadav was picked by Mumbai Indians but didn’t get any opportunity to play and ultimately got released. In the Tamil Nadu Premier League, his spinning skills have been appreciated and in the 2022 edition, he was the top-scorer smashing 452 runs in nine games at a strike rate of 186.77. Most of the franchise looked for pace bowlers and which didn’t favour him.

9. Mohammad Nabi

As per the ICC rankings, Mohammad Nabi is the second-best all-rounder in the T20s. In last year’s IPL he scored 163 runs and scalped 11 wickets so it’s quite shocking for him to not get a place in any team. His ability to bowl at any over adds to his versatility.

The IPL 2023 mini-auction was successful, with players like Sam Curran, Cameron Green, and Ben Stikes being the most expensive buys. However, the 10 franchises are not very happy with the mini-auction and suggested the BCCI conduct a player draft instead. They want the mega-auction to be continued every three years. Earlier, the teams expressed their disappointment in letting their players go away, whom they had groomed.

The main reason for desiring to cancel the mini-auction is due to the price they have to pay to get some of the best talents. For example, Harry Brook was bought for Rs. 13.25 Crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad but Rajasthan Royals could have gone broke for buying him and neither was the franchise informed about it.

In order to stop spending a major amount to bag foreign players, the franchises want BCCI to conduct the draft procedure. Conventionally, the mega auction in the IPL is held every three years. A team can retain only 4 players which means, their squad gets a complete makeover. By introducing the player draft, there will be proper slab prices for players that restrict them from spending a huge amount of money on a cricketer.

The player agents sometimes play tricks to get the players a very huge price in mini-auction that wouldn’t have been a way in mega-auction. In this case, the franchises face a huge loss.

The BCCI hasn’t taken a decision on this and they get a year’s time to think about this. IPL 2023 will be sorted, and the year 2025 will gain see a mega-auction. 2024 will the year that will reveal the final decision that the board has taken.

In IPL 2023 mini-auction, out of 991 players, 405 went through the hammer. English player Sam Curran was the most expensive buy in the history of the auction with an amount of Rs. 18.50 crore. His performance in the T20 World Cup 2022, impressed all the franchises but it was Punjab Kings that acquired his services.

The second test between Bangladesh and India finally came to an end with India winning the series by 2-0. Bangladesh once again couldn’t defeat India in the Test match. However, with the 71-run stand between Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin, the visitors clinched the victory by three wickets.

Indian batters Shreyas Iyer and R Ashwin had a partnership of 71 runs which is the highest for the eighth wicket in a successful fourth-innings chase. Previously, n Inzamam-ul-Haq and Rashid Latif’s 51-run stand was the highest against Australia in 1994.

Mehidy claimed 5/63 that nearly had kept the hopes of Bangladeshi alive for their victory.

Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara got the player-of-the-series award for mustering 222, which had a century.

In the 1st innings, India amassed 314 runs and in the 2nd one, they completed the chase of 145/7.
