Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant is set to go under double surgery after he met with a car accident a few days ago. He will be out of the action for about nine months. BCCI has airlifted Rishabh Pant to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital this Wednesday. He will be going to London for the surgery but the date isn’t decided. He has to recover from the superficial wounds and under Dinshaw Pardiwala’s observation his ligament treatment will continue.

“Rishabh was brought to Mumbai to avoid too much attention on him. He needs rest and it was not possible in Dehradun. Here, he will be in high security and only family members can meet him. As he recovers from the wounds, the doctors will decide the course of action for his ligament injury”– a senior BCCI official said

Some reports suggested that he will be treated in Mumbai under Dr. Pardiwala and the board doesn’t want to take any risk since the ICC World Cup is in October.

“Once the doctors seem he is fit to travel, he will be sent to London for surgery. We still don’t know how long it will take him to recover. Once the swelling subsides, Dr Pardiwala and his team will determine the treatment path. As things stand, Rishabh will need surgery on both his knee and ankle. That will anyway keep him out for close to nine months,” the official told

Pant has undergone an MRI in Dehradun on his brain and spinal cord but due to swelling and pain and the doctors couldn’t do an MRI on his knee and ankle. The intensity of the injury will be known only when the swelling reduces a bit. As per the preliminary tests, he will be needing an injury for both the ankle and knee. The double surgery can take longer and once the damage is determined, the doctors can determine the recovery time.

DEXA is the new selection criteria for the Indian team as revealed by BCCI

With the ODI World Cup and Asia Cup coming up this year, the BCCI decided to introduce DEXA as a part of their selection criteria for the Indian players. Earlier BCCU had held a review meeting on India’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2022. The team was led by Rohit Sharma and coached by Rahul Dravid. The BCCI has announced major changes and shortlisted 20 players for the ODI World Cup in 2023.

The last two years have seen a lot of injuries. Major players like Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya have been injured. The management has also made the YO-YO Test and Dexa compulsory in order to get selected for the Indian team. IN 2019’s ODI World Cup, the YO-YO Test was used for fitness measurement for the first time.

“The Yo-Yo Test and Dexa will now be part of selection criteria and implemented in the customized roadmaps of the central pool of players,” BCCI said in an official statement.

DEXA is the Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry which can prevent injuries. It measures bone mineral density using spectral imaging. Ramji Srinivasan who has been the former strength and conditioning coach of the Indian team recommended the Dexa scan test to the NCA in 2011 due to the increase in the number of matches played per year.

“It helps you understand where the fat is and whether the training methods are yielding the result. It is all linked to a cycle. It is part of testing protocols that should have become mandatory long back. Some teams have been doing this for 10 years. It is a fool-proof method. Skinfold can be manipulated and each time different results can show up. But with DEXA it will be uniform and the data will be used for the future as well,” Ramji said.

DEXA uses the high-energy and low-energy beans which pass through the bone and the emitted X-rays are used to measure the bone density and mineral content. The scans are also useful. The scans are also useful in determining the body fat percentage and lean muscles. Even a small change can be scanned through this DEXA method.

The India vs Sri Lanka series will be starting on January 3, 2022. Prior to that, the official sponsor for the team jersey changed. Earlier, MPL was sponsoring the name and now the brand Killer will be their official sponsor.

Earlier, BCCI in the Apex Council meeting said that no sponsorship right will be passed till March. however, with the sudden existence of MPL, the Killer brand had to take its place.

The official website of BCci shows that the MPL brand and the Killer Jeans brand as partners but now it’s confirmed that the rights have been exchanged.

The BCCI has three big companies as its sponsors including PayTM which owns BCCI. the domestic rights have been transferred to Mastercard and Byju will be exiting from their deal beforehand.

The MPL brand handed over the rights to Kewal Kiran clothing which is the parent company of Killer Jeans. Their contract was valid with the Board of Control for Cricket in India till December 23 but due to the recession, they exited earlier. Its original deal term was with the Byju’s which paid 10% more than Oppo on a per-match basis. However, ed-tech is going through a major financial crisis.

“BCCI received an email communication from MPL sports on 2.12.2022 seeking a complete assignment (team + merchandising) at full value to Kewal Kiran Clothing Limited, a fashion wear brand, for the period from 1.12.2023 to 31.12.2023.

“With the upcoming back-to-back home series and the women’s away calendar, it was suggested that the current arrangement should not be hampered as it involves performance gear for the national teams.

“We had asked MPL sports to continue the association at least until 31.3.2023 or look for a partial assignment that would involve only the right chest logo but not the kit manufacturing agreement,”– the note said

If India wins all four test matches against Australia, they will make their PCT tally to 68.05. The Sri Lankan team has a high chance of making s debut in the World Test Championship Finale even without playing a single test match.

The island nation will have to win all the games till next year’s finale to feature in the WTC finale. They have one series against New Zealand in March though they have a very poor record on New Zealand’s soil. Out of 19 attempts, they could win only two series there.

If Sri Lanka wins all their matches there, the PTC will increase to 61.1%. They’ll try to get to second place in the points table, only in the Aussies win all their games.
