  • Apple to come with foldable smartphones in near future?

Apple to come with foldable smartphones in near future?

Apple is not known to admit what they are innovating with publicly. Still, if we believe a few reports, the US giant might be looking into the possibility of creating foldable phones. The reports suggest that Apple is already testing out a few prototypes to understand foldable smartphones better.

Apple won’t instantly roll out a foldable phone, but they are trying to get it done as soon as possible. This is because their competitors Samsung, Xiaomi, and Motorola, have already made their plans public. In fact, Samsung had already launched its foldable smartphone in 2019. They have the first-mover advantage in this niche product category, and now Apple is trying to come from behind and enter this product category with more features.

The second wave of coronavirus has also impacted Apple’s business hours at their facilities. To prevent the spread of the virus, designers can visit the center only a few times a week. Thus, we can expect a delay in Apple’s foldable smartphones. A launch in 2021 of these phones will be too early, in our opinion.

Also Read: Apple to launch a number of products including AirTags and AR Glasses in 2021

Another report highlights that iPhones in 2021 might come with fingerprint-scanning Touch ID in their displays. That means an in-screen fingerprint sensor. This is not seen till now and will be an amazing innovation from the tech giant.

Being one of the leading global OEMs, Apple does not want to lag in foldable smartphones. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, which was launched in August 2020, gathered a lot of interest from the customers.

These new designs and innovations do attract a lot of customers as they try to move from conventional smartphones. At CES 2021, LG showed a prototype of one of their rollable smartphone, the LG Rollable. Thus, we can see the urge among all the smartphone OEMs to launch this new design under their brand names. How fast can Apple do this is the main question.

  • Apple begins Blocking M1 Mac users from Sideloading iOS Apps

Apple begins Blocking M1 Mac users from Sideloading iOS Apps

Earlier this week, it was reported by 9to5Mac that Apple is planning to begin blocking users from sideloading iPhone and iPad applications to their M1 Macs. Now, Apple has officially announced that it has turned off users’ ability to install iOS apps onto their M1 Macs unofficially. This means that an app such as iMazing is no longer possible to use on your M1 Mac.

While you can still find iOS apps in the Mac App Store, many apps, such as Dark Sky, don’t have their developer’s approval to be run on macOS. Up until now, you could manually install iOS apps like Netflix, Facebook, and Instagram on an M1 Mac by using their respective IPA files downloaded under a valid Apple ID.

Many people were using tools such as iMazing to complete this process, but it seems like Apple has remotely disabled this. Apple has flipped the necessary server-side switch to block iPad and iPhone applications from being installed on Apple Silicon Macs.

According to 9to5Mac, the message on the most recent macOS 11.2 beta is more specific: “the application cannot be installed because the developer did not intend for it to run on this platform.”

This move by Apple is not surprising as Code was found in the beta indicating a ban would be coming, and the iPhone maker has given developers power to block their apps from running on the Mac — a power that is undermined by sideloading. However, it is sad for Mac users to see the feature go, as they have been used to having more freedom in what programs they’re able to run than they do on iOS.

An already sideloaded application from your iPhone or iPad on your M1 Mac will still run properly. This change only affects new application installations, and if you had previously downloaded a.IPA file, you could still install it.

  • Appear Inc. launches World’s first Graphene Battery-powered smartphone

Appear Inc. launches World’s first Graphene Battery-powered smartphone

San Francisco based tech company, Appear Inc., has announced on Friday, the launch of the world’s lightest and first graphene battery-powered smartphone with innovative water-resistant technology. The interest in the phone is showing as Appear has begun receiving orders and projections call for a million units sold in the first six months. By March 2021, the smartphone would be available in stores and major online retailers.

Foxconn Will Help Meet Growing Demands

Foxconn is a well-known and trusted manufacturer for many popular brands of smartphones including BlackBerry, iPhone, and Nokia, and consumer electronic products including iPad, PlayStation, and Xbox. Appear has partnered with Foxconn India for its growing manufacturing needs as Foxconn has the experience, expertise, and facilities to meet Appear’s high-quality standards.

The Phone Features Graphene Fast-Charge Battery

Appear, known to create innovative products using advanced material science, has shown its caliber with this smartphone powered by Qualcomm processors. The Graphene Super 20 Power Bank by Appear, recharges fully in 20 minutes using the company’s proprietary Fast Charge battery technology, which has now been incorporated in a smartphone successfully.

Graphene, similar to graphite, has revolutionized many areas of manufacturing due to its unique properties, it is composed purely of carbon. Graphene is lightweight and one of the most conductive materials even though it is stronger than steel. This makes it the correct material to act as a supercapacitor for Appear’s revolutionary Fast Charge Technology. It is a known fact in the technology industry that graphene-enhanced Li-ion batteries have longer lifespans and faster charging times.

The Smartphone Is Complete With Water Resilient Technology

A mind-boggling stat about the enmity between water and smartphones is that 11% of smartphones are damaged by water, every year, that is 165 million phones per year or 452,000 per day! As consumers become more dependent on their smartphones, water protection is a necessary feature added in the new Appear smartphone. This new smartphone is the perfect option for the eco-conscious consumer as building more resilient phones will also help reduce growing electronic waste.

Appear designed the Buoyant and Levitating Speakers

The water-resistant technology was first debuted by Appear in its Buoyant Speakers, proving the success of the company’s technology in pools across the world. However, the real show-stopper by Appear has been its levitating speakers. When powered, the speaker rises up and hovers over the speaker box. The company has plans to license the technology across many industries and countries.

    Available in March 2021

Appear has partnered with Amazon, Sharaf DG, and many more e-tailers as it is expecting high consumer demand. To ensure that its smartphones are available globally, the company will be working with 70+ distributors. They are expected to be available in March 2021, you can visit Appear for further details.

  • Apple’s upcoming Foldable iPhone patents leaked, prototypes pass Foxconn’s durability test

Apple’s upcoming Foldable iPhone patents leaked, prototypes pass Foxconn’s durability test

For the past couple of months, news has been roaming out in the market that Apple may launch its first foldable iPhone in 2022. It is not the first time we are hearing such kind of news. Earlier, we also got a similar kind of news regarding the foldable segment of Apple. But, Apple has not confirmed anything yet as it is currently working on the foldable technology. As per reports, the company is already getting iPhone testing samples from a Taiwanese factory.

Now, a recent report says that Apple has passed its two upcoming foldable iPhones through its durability test showing that both the variants look quite unique and the bending mechanism is quite similar to the Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold or Z Flip. One of those Apple devices folds horizontally whereas the other one folds vertically. As of now, any of those is not fully functional as only the chassis and display components have been tested.

Apart from it, a couple of patent images has been leaked showing the expected mechanical designs of the upcoming foldable iPhones. The patent name is “Folding Electronic Devices With Geared Hinges.” This patent was filed by the iPhone-makers explaining the usabilities of advanced hinges and gears of a foldable device. Let’s how it will work.

The patent states that the “first and second portions of an electronic device housing for the [foldable] device may be joined using a hinge”. Additionally, the hinge is expected to contain “toothed members such as gears and a rack member” by which the user can fold the device in both directions.

The patent reads, “The rack member may have a surface with curved portions. The gears may include rotating gears that walk along the curved portions of the rack member as the electronic device is folded and unfolded. The hinge may include gears that are fixedly attached to the first and second housing portions and that engage the rotating gears. Linkage members may hold together gears and the rack member.”

The patent added more, saying, “The display may be an organic light-emitting diode display, a micro-light-emitting diode display formed from an array of crystalline semiconductor light-emitting diode dies, and/or maybe any other suitable display,”

As of now, Apple has not confirmed anything about the time in which it will launch its very-first foldable device. But it doesn’t look like it can make its entry in 2021, so we have to wait for another year, possibly in 2022, we might expect Apple to launch its first-ever foldable iPhone.

  • Apple to launch a number of products including AirTags and AR Glasses in 2021

Apple to launch a number of products including AirTags and AR Glasses in 2021

According to a few reports, Apple is set to have another busy year as they plan to launch many products in 2021. A well-known and reputable Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, has revealed a few plans which the US giant might have on their mind this year.

It seems like the long-rumored AirTags will be released this year. Apple is said to be working on these Bluetooth tags since 2019. The AirTags will help you to track the attached items like keys and wallets from your iPhone. These AirTags are supposed to be using UWB (ultra-wideband) technology which is present in the latest Apple smartphones. iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, and the Pro models are the latest devices that come with the facility. In the last few months, we have been reading many reports suggesting the looks of AirTags which has increased the curiosity among the market participants.

Apple AR Glass and Headset Rumored To Be In Development

Not only AirTags, but Apple is said to come up with an unnamed Augmented Reality (AR) device as well. Earlier it was reported that the AR device might not come before 2022 but it looks like the timeline has changed. Details about this AR device is still not available.

Apple Silicon for next-gen Macs announced at WWDC 2020

Apple is also tipped to continue the transformation of its Mac products from Intel to Apple Silicon. There’s a huge possibility that the upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro will feature mini LED displays. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is supposed to launch in the first quarter of this year. Many believe it could be the first iPad with a mini LED display feature.

With Apple Silicon-powered MacBooks and new LED features, this could be an important year for the iPad and MacBooks. The US giants have an aim to move from Intel to Apple Silicon within the next two years. Another product that might hit the market in 2021 is AirPods. These AirPods might have a similar design to the AirPods Pro but offer replaceable silicone ear-tips. What are your expectations from Apple in 2021?

According to a report, the US tech giant is planning to amplify iPhone production by 30% in the first half of 2021. This is a major update coming from the tech company as the world is still finding it tough to contain the spread of the virus. Apple is preparing to produce 96 million smartphones in the first half of next year due to the extremely high demand for its 5G devices.

iPhone new series, iPhone 12, supports 5G connectivity. This factor is attracting a lot of customers from around the world. When 4G came into the market, the dimensions of technology completely changed. People expect a similar disruption to be caused by 5G services. Apple is one of the most recalled brands in the smartphone domain. Also, if 5G is the future, the next series of phones will be costlier for the customers.

India, the second-largest smartphone market, should be the preferred location for many smartphone OEMs. Apple is no different. Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron are Apple’s contract manufacturers which are looking to manufacture the iPhone 12 Series in India. It is quite obvious that if Apple is planning to have a significant 30% increase in their production, some of that has to take place in India as well.

Recently, Wistron, one of Apple’s manufacturers in India, has been in the news. Allegedly, many of the workers have vandalized the factory and even stole a few iPhone products as an act to protest against Wistron’s non-payment for the past four months. The loss estimated by the manufacturer is Rs.50 crore. Earlier they reported this loss to be around Rs 437 crore but later revised their estimate. The central government has asked the state authorities to look into this matter seriously.

Even though this is a big event, we believe that it can be considered as a one-off incident. The government of India is keenly interested to transform India into a manufacturing hub, especially for smartphones. They are already offering financial and other incentives to many companies to set up their production factories in India. Policies like ‘Make in India’ and the ‘PLI scheme’ tells about the commitment from the government.

Apple, being a global company, with the help of the central government, will be able to fend off these issues and focus more on the production part. A larger-scale production in India would mean greater direct and indirect employment for the people of our nation. Also, there will be high chances to correct our trade books if we can export these iPhones as well.
