Syria defeat India 1-0 to knock them out of the AFC Asian Cup 2023

Syria defeated India 1-0 to pick up their first win in the AFC Asian Cup after seven long years. The victory could send them to the Round of 16 considering how the other countries fare in their final group stage game.

For Igor Stimac, it is a third straight loss as his side crashes out of the tournament without a single point and no goals scored across their three games. As a result, it was a disappointing end to their campaign in spite of a spirited buildup, amidst a number of key injuries.

India put in a valiant performance in each of the last three games, but their opponents were all a step ahead of them, with the tournament ending with no goals and no points. The national team players will now return to the country and it remains to be seen if any of the players now appear in the Kalinga Super Cup.
