Suresh Raina, who hasn’t played any competitive match since the IPL final of 2019 and also missed IPL 2020 in UAE due to personal reasons, has confirmed his return to the yellow army in the IPL 2021 edition. Although BCCI is yet to confirm if the mega auction will happen in pomp and grandeur or otherwise.

Another player to miss out IPL 2020 was Harbhajan Singh, who also missed the season due to personal reasons and could not travel to UAE. CSK has removed both, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh’s name from their website creating speculations about their joining back the yellow army.

The IPL 2021 is likely to happen in April and May in India after examining the COVID situation. Though this year IPL was forcefully shifted to UAE due to the COVID situations in India.

Suresh Raina is also set to return to competitive cricket as he will be representing Uttar Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2020/21. But BCCI is yet to announce the schedule of the 2020/21 season but it is confirmed that the board will be organising the T20 tournament before the IPL auction. Apart from that Suresh Raina will be also captaining Uttar Pradesh in the domestic tournament.

The BCCI is yet to deliver a final word regarding the domestic season and IPL 2021 and is expected after its AGM on December 24. The board hopes to kick off the season next month and should it only host white-ball matches, the season might get over in February. But if the BCCI hosts Ranji Trophy as well, the season might extend till March.
