The Awkward Reunion That Changes Everything

In newly released stills from Soompi, Ji Woo suddenly blocks Gyeong Do’s path with a calm yet determined expression, catching him completely off guard. The reunion is tense and uncomfortable rather than joyful—a stark contrast to the passionate college romance they once shared.

But why does Ji Woo seek out her first love after nearly two decades of silence? The answer lies in a scandal that connects their present lives in the most unexpected way.

A Love Story Told Across Three Timelines

Surely Tomorrow stands out by exploring Lee Gyeong Do and Seo Ji Woo’s relationship across multiple periods:

Age 20 (College Days): They first met as freshmen and fell deeply in love, experiencing the intoxicating highs of first romance. Ji Woo was bold and playful, constantly flustering the more reserved Gyeong Do with her carefree personality.

Age 28 (Second Chance): After their initial breakup, they rekindled their relationship in their late twenties. Their love was just as passionate but ultimately ended in heartbreak once again.

Age 38 (Present Day): Gyeong Do works as deputy manager of the entertainment section at Dongwoon Daily. When he breaks a story about an affair involving a chaebol’s son-in-law, he’s shocked to discover the woman at the center of the scandal is Ji Woo—now married to the man he’s investigating.

Why Their Chemistry Works

Park Seo Joon described their relationship with one word: “love.” In a press interview, he explained that despite time and circumstances changing the form of their connection, the fundamental feeling remains. Won Ji An chose “magnet” to describe how they’re irresistibly drawn to each other even after years apart.

The on-screen chemistry reflects genuine care off-screen. Won Ji An praised Park Seo Joon’s consideration during emotionally draining scenes, saying he helped her maintain attention to even the smallest details throughout filming. This mutual respect translates into performances that feel authentic and deeply moving.

The Tagline That Says It All

The drama’s main poster features a poignant tagline: “Bit by bit, it became clearer. This is still love.” Despite two painful breakups and 18 years of separation, both characters carry lingering feelings. Gyeong Do wonders, “How long will I love you?” while Ji Woo admits, “When you’re close to me like this, it becomes hard for me to tell you to leave.”

These aren’t characters who’ve moved on—they’re people whose first love left an indelible mark that shaped every relationship that followed.

Where to Watch Surely Tomorrow

Surely Tomorrow airs on JTBC every Friday and Saturday at 10:40 PM KST. International viewers can stream the series on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories, with new episodes dropping weekly.

The series joins Park Seo Joon’s impressive portfolio of romance dramas including What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim and Itaewon Class. For Won Ji An, this marks her first leading role in a romantic drama after standout performances in Squid Game Season 2 and D.P.

What Makes This Romance Different

Unlike typical K-dramas that focus on fresh new relationships, Surely Tomorrow explores the messy reality of encountering your first love decades later—when both of you have lived completely different lives. The scandal that brings them together isn’t just a plot device; it represents how our past connections can resurface under the most complicated circumstances.

Director Kim Seok Yoon and writer Jo Yoon Young craft a narrative that asks difficult questions: Can first love survive multiple lifetimes? Do we ever truly move on from the people who shaped us? And what happens when fate forces you to confront feelings you thought were buried?
