‘Suburgatory’ Returns: ABC’s Hidden Comedy Gem Lands on Netflix This February

Remember when suburban satire was done right? The cult-favorite sitcom Suburgatory is making its streaming debut on Netflix US, bringing all three seasons of sharp wit and suburban absurdity to a new generation of viewers.

Suburgatory: What You Need to Know

The Chatswin Chronicles

Suburgatory follows Manhattan dad George Altman (Jeremy Sisto) who makes a panicked decision after discovering condoms in his teenage daughter Tessa’s room. His solution? Relocate to Chatswin—a picture-perfect suburb where residents are more plastic than the flamingos on their lawns.

Created by Emily Kapnek, the series cleverly skewers suburban culture through the eyes of sardonic Tessa (Jane Levy), who quickly realizes that life among McMansions and spray-tanned neighbors might be more corrupting than city life ever was. The show masterfully balances fish-out-of-water comedy with genuine heart, exploring themes of identity, belonging, and what “home” really means.

Star-Studded Suburban Cast

The ensemble brings comedy pedigree to every cul-de-sac:

• Jane Levy (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) delivers perfectly timed cynicism as Tessa
• Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm) shines as the overly-friendly Dallas Royce
• SNL veterans Chris Parnell and Ana Gasteyer steal scenes as the hilariously overbearing Shay parents
• Alan Tudyk (Resident Alien) adds his quirky charm as Noah

Why Suburgatory Deserves Your Attention

This isn’t just another network sitcom collecting dust. The series earned critical praise for its subversive take on suburban life, blending absurdist humor with surprisingly touching family dynamics. After recent successes of similar Warner Bros.-produced comedies like The Middle and 2 Broke Girls, Netflix clearly knows there’s appetite for quality 2010s sitcoms.
