Stuart Broad also scored the third fastest Test fifty for an Englishman in this Test match and finished the match with bowling figures of 10/67 as he led England to a massive 269-run win in the Wisden Trophy decider against West Indies.

Broad also became the highest wicket-taker (79 wickets) for England in the fourth innings of a Test match after his figures of 4/36 in the final innings of the third Test against West Indies. His teammate James Anderson is just one behind him with 78 wickets.

Stuart Broad and James Anderson also made another record on Tuesday. When Broad took his 500th test wicket and played along with Anderson, it became the first instance of two pacers with 500+ test wickets playing together.

Anderson told Sky Sports on Tuesday: “He’s [Stuart Broad] been a real inspiration with the way he was worked over the last years. I’m always amazed at how he gets going in a spell and just blows teams away. He’s in great shape and he can go on and get as many wickets as he wants.”

Stuart Broad’s milestone wickets in Test cricket are:

  • 1st wicket: Chaminda Vaas
  • 100th wicket: Prasanna Jayawardene
  • 200th wicket: Michael Clarke
  • 300th wicket: Chris Rogers
  • 400th wicket: Tom Latham
  • 500th wicket: Kraigg Brathwaite.
