Nottingham Forest have sacked head coach Steve Cooper with immediate effect, after spending two years and leading them back into the Premier League. His presence was vital in getting them promoted from the Championship and then avoiding relegation last year.

Now, over the lack of results, the board has decided to pull the trigger and bring in a new manager to change things. Former Wolves, Tottenham Hotspur and Al Ittihad manager Nuno Espirito Santo will join the Tricky Trees as their new head coach in the coming hours.

The team is currently five points away from the relegation zone, earning only 14 points from their 17 games this far. Luton Town are currently 18th with 9 points, and the sudden resurgence of Everton has left Forest at the risk of dropping down.

To avoid another season battling for relegation and hopefully progressing towards a mid table finish, Nottingham Forest have decided to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo, who did just that with Wolves. The Portuguese manager guided them from the second tier to the Europa League, before eventually joining Spurs.

Although things didn’t work out for him in London, he could replicate his achievements with Wolves while in charge of Nottingham Forest. And with the experience of managing Tottenham and Al Ittihad, we could expect a boost in their performances once his tenure is in full swing.
