Steam Deck climbs the charts to become the top seller in Revenue on Steam

In recent weeks, the Steam Deck handheld’s popularity has grown significantly. Valve’s AMD Aerith APU-powered portable has been second in the top-selling by revenue statistics for the past five weeks. However, it has now topped the charts.

The battle for the top spot on the Steam revenue ranking for best-selling titles is fierce. The Steam Deck has a huge purchase price of at least $399 in its favour, but many people will choose a higher-spec variant, raising the average price to $500+.

Elden Ring, published by Bandai, has been one of the biggest contenders in the top three of the ranking in recent weeks. This new title, which is particularly popular on PCs (accounting for 44 per cent of sales in Europe), was reported to have sold 12 million copies in three weeks in mid-March. However, the game is still over $50 on the internet at the time of writing.

Steam Deck made Valve best friends with Hardware

We all are certainly aware of the tragic destiny of Steam Machines and peripherals such as the Steam Controller and Steam Link. However, it appears that Valve’s earlier mistakes have been put to good use in the Steam Deck. The new portable and its operating system make extensive use of venerable technology.

Check out our benchmarks and hands-on first impressions story from last month if you’re interested in the Steam Deck but aren’t sure what all the hoopla is about. Meanwhile, news items about extended PC game library support (better compatibility), as well as advancements like AMD Adrenalin, Cloud Sync, updated Windows drivers, and more, are fairly common.

Unfortunately, getting your hands on a Steam Deck isn’t easy right now. If you hit the reservation button now, you’ll have to wait until “October 2022 or later,” according to Valve’s projected distribution date (all variants). Valve has announced that Steam Deck delivery would be “accelerated” and that “no reservation windows have been modified or delayed.”
