Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: Here are all the details of the upcoming Game

It’s almost time for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which will be released on April 28th, more than three years after its predecessor. Even more, the time has passed in-universe since the events of Fallen Order. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, like its predecessor, focuses on Cal Kestis, a former Clone Wars Padawan (now Jedi Knight) who managed to escape the clutches of the newly minted Empire and Order 66, which saw Clone Troopers previously under the command of the Jedi turn against them.

Cal successfully hides as a scrapper on the planet Bracca for five years, until an accident that nearly kills his friend forces the young Jedi to save him with his powers, revealing his identity to witnesses. Cal is now on the run from Inquisitors when he is rescued by former Jedi Knight Cere Junda and Greez Dritus, the pilot of their ship, the Stinger Mantis.

Cere transports Cal to the planet Bogano, where her former master Eno Cordova has hidden a Jedi Holocron in a vault containing a list of Force-sensitive children who Cere believes can aid in the rebuilding of the Jedi Order. The crew must follow Cordova’s path, accompanied by BD-1, an adorable droid and former companion of the deceased Jedi Master.

Cal also learns that the Inquisitor leading the hunt for him is Trilla, Cere’s former Padawan who she surrendered to the Empire when interrogated. Trilla, understandably, is enraged by her former mentor’s betrayal.

Cal has a vision of what could happen if he rebuilds the Jedi Order after completing his mission and obtaining the Jedi Holocron: its destruction at the hands of the Empire and his turn to the dark side. Trilla appears and steals the Holocron before he can decide what to do.

Jedi: Survivor takes place five years after Fallen Order, in the same timeline as the Disney+ show Obi-Wan Kenobi, and nine years before Episode IV: A New Hope. The crew has been committing acts of rebellion against the Empire since the end of the first game, some of which are detailed in the tie-in novel Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars, which takes place between the two games. This novel explains how Cal got the facial scar seen in Jedi: Survivor, as well as why Greez’s upper right arm has become robotic.

The crew has since split up, with Cal continuing to fight the good fight while Cere, Greez, and Merrin appear to have lost the spark. Details on what caused the crew to split up, as well as what happens in the game to bring them back together, are scarce before the game’s release.

We do, however, know about two of the game’s antagonists. Many fans mistook the Grand Inquisitor for an imperial senator, albeit one of the same Pau’an race, based on the first trailer. Rayvis of the powerful Gen’Dai race has also been seen in several trailers for the game; near-immortal beings made entirely of tendrils, their humanoid structure is given form by their armor.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s gameplay will build on and expand on what was possible in Jedi: Fallen Order.

Stig Asmussen, the game’s director, has confirmed that the title will not reset Cal’s powers and that many of the abilities and techniques he honed by the end of the previous game will be present at the start of Jedi: Survivor.

Cal will also be able to perform combo attacks with companions at times. Trailers show the Jedi Knight teaming up with Merrin and Bode Akuna, a new character in the game who has major Han Solo vibes.

Cal won’t lose any of his abilities from the previous title, so he’ll start with the ability to form both a standard and double-sided lightsaber. Cal could split the double-sided variant into two separate sabers as a limited-time attack in Jedi: Fallen Order; in Jedi: Survivor, dual-wielding lightsabers have become their form.

Cal will travel to both familiar and new locations in Jedi: Survivor. Koboh is one of the most important locations, and it served as the planet for our hands-on preview. Cal’s home base in Jedi: Fallen Order was the Stinger Mantis. In Jedi: Survivor, his home base is now a full settlement on Koboh called Rambler’s Reach, centered on Greez’s cantina.

In Rambler’s Reach, characters Cal meets on his adventures can open shops and offer him side quests and purchases like cosmetics, which have been greatly expanded in Jedi: Fallen Order. BD-1 part swapping, Cal’s hair and beard styling, and a wider range of clothing options will all be included in Survivor. Yes, Cal can dress more formally this time around than just a poncho.

On April 28, 2023, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be released. The standard edition will cost $70 and will be available only on the latest generation of hardware, which includes the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. According to Asmussen, not having to develop for older devices like the PS4 and Xbox One allowed the game to include features that were only available on newer consoles.
