IPl 2023’s schedule is out, and this edition will be the 15th season of the league. The inaugural auction for this event took place back on February 20, 2008, and since then, it has become one of the most celebratory cricket tournaments in the world.
Star Sports celebrates 15 years of IPL: some big names in the award list
Star Sports, the television broadcaster for IPL 2023, decided to celebrate 15 glorious years of the massively popular cricket tournament around the world. Handing out awards was chosen as the major celebration form, with some big names making it to the winners’ list.
Titled “Incredible Premier League awards,” the selected categories were best captain, batter, and bowler, including greatest impact, batting performance, and bowling performance.

Incredible Captain: Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma has had an incredible run in the IPL as a captain, where he led his team to victory five times. Deservingly so, he bagged the title of Best Captain. On Star Sports, the Mumbai Indians captain thanked all the fans for their constant support and vote and mentioned it matters a lot to him and the franchise.
Incredible Batter: AB de Villiers
Who could ever forget the greatness of this South African batter during his tenure with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru? He passed the likes of legendary Suresh Raina to bag the title of Incredible Batter in IPL.
Incredible Bowler: Jasprit Bumrah
No one can ever overlook the thrashing yorkers at death overs from the Mumbai Indians pace leader Jasprit Bumrah. That earned him the award of the most incredible Bowler in 15 years of IPL history.
Incredible Overall Impact: Andre Russell
Russell has been one of the key players for the Kolkata Knight Riders over the years, and the impact he created with both bat and ball has helped him seal the award for incredible overall impact.
Incredible Batting Performance in a Season: Virat Kohli, 2016
No cricket lover would ever forget Virat Kohli’s performance in the 2016 edition of the IPL. Thrashing four hundred, he scored a staggering 973 runs, deserving enough to bag the incredible batting performance award.
Incredible Bowling Performance: Sunil Narine, 2012
The year 2012 will always be special to KKR as they won their maiden IPL trophy that year. Thanks to Sunil Narine’s massive bowling display that year, that left the opponent batters numb at the wicket. He picked up 24 wickets in 15 games at an economy of 5.4 in his debut season. Quite obviously, he bagged the incredible bowling performance award.
