From Pickpocket To Spy: Why “100 Days Of Deception” Is K-Drama’s Next Big Obsession

Some dramas tease you with a poster. tvN’s upcoming spy-romance “100 Days of Deception” is doing something bolder — sending its cast on an actual undercover mission, on camera, inside the set itself.

Ahead of its October premiere, tvN has scheduled a special preview broadcast titled “100 Days of Deception: Secret Documents.” In the newly released teaser, stars Kim You Jung, Park Jinyoung (of GOT7), Kim Hyun Joo, Lee Moo Saeng, and Jin Sun Kyu are given a mission: find a secret document hidden inside the recreated Japanese Government-General of Korea building on set. Along the way, they introduce their characters and give fans a first real look at the drama’s world.

Directed by Yoo In Shik — the mind behind Extraordinary Attorney Woo and the Dr. Romantic series — the show is set during the Japanese occupation of Korea, following Lee Ga Kyeong (Kim You Jung), Gyeongseong’s top pickpocket turned undercover independence-movement spy, as she infiltrates enemy territory and gets entangled with interpreter Kim Tae Woong (Park Jinyoung) — who’s secretly hiding an identity of his own.

100 Days Of Deception: Overview

What makes this one worth circling on your calendar isn’t just the espionage plot — it’s the pairing. Kim You Jung, fresh off her drama Dear X, and Park Jinyoung, an idol-actor who’s steadily built a “first love icon” reputation, bring instant chemistry to a premise that mixes tension, disguise, and slow-burn romance. Add a director with a track record for character-driven hits, and this isn’t just another period piece — it’s shaping up to be this fall’s must-watch.

If gateway K-dramas are more your speed before diving into something heavier, TechnoSports has a great list of the shows that turn casual viewers into lifelong K-drama fans — worth a look while you wait for October.
