Spurs eyeing Nuno Espirito Santo as manager after Gattuso talks collapse

Tottenham’s hunt for a new manager has now led them to former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo as the long-term replacement for Jose Mourinho. The 47-year-old announced that he would be leaving Wolves shortly before the end of the season, and he is currently out of a job.

Crystal Palace and Everton have also held talks with the Portuguese manager, but have failed to reach an agreement. Everton reportedly reached a verbal agreement with him but no formal proposal was sent from the higher authorities.

Tottenham appointed academy graduate Ryan Mason as the interim manager until the end of the season. They were next linked with Antonio Conte, who left Inter Milan a few weeks ago. However, due to stark differences between the two parties on the way things should be at the club, the Italian did not return to London.

Conte wanted Spurs to have a winning mentality and the capacity to challenge for titles. But he didn’t find that at the club or in its higher management. They were next linked with former Roma boss Paulo Foncesca, but the deal collapsed in the final stages.

Spurs were most recently linked with Gennaro Gattuso, who left Fiorentina after only 22 days in charge and didn’t oversee a single game after leaving Napoli at the end of the season. Nothing official has been reached with Nuno yet, but with Fabio Paratici overseeing the sporting decisions, fans can be assured that their future is in the right hands.
