Five weekends in, and Tom Holland’s web-slinger is still swinging its way toward the record books. Spider-Man: Brand New Day collected Rs. 1.70 crore (Rs. 1.40 crore nett) on its fifth Saturday, a solid 55% jump from the previous day. That pushes the film’s running total to Rs. 576.50 crore gross in India, with the full run now expected to close somewhere around Rs. 585-590 crore.

The film once looked headed for the elusive Rs. 600 crore club, but a slower third and fourth week pulled that target just out of reach. Even so, this remains an All-Time Blockbuster — and one of the biggest Hollywood success stories India has seen in years. It’s also only the third Hollywood film ever to cross 2 crore-plus footfalls in the country, joining an elite list that includes just Titanic and Avengers: Endgame.

With the film now in its final legs, attention is already shifting to what comes next for the genre in India. Avengers: Doomsday looms as the next big test — the question on everyone’s mind is whether it can chase down Titanic’s all-time footfall record, something even this film couldn’t quite manage.
