The plans for the Spider-Man 4 seem to be already under development. Spider-Man: No Way Home is the third Spider-Man featured film, featuring Tom Holland and it was released worldwide on 16th December 2021. This film has finally given a new life to the worldwide theatrical business which was greatly affected in the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Spider-Man 4: Development status
The president of Marvel Studios named Kevin Feige has said in an interview to the New York Times that “Amy and I and Disney and Sony are talking about — yes, we’re actively beginning to develop where the story heads next, which I only say outright because I don’t want fans to go through any separation trauma like what happened after Far From Home [the previous Spider-Man movie, in 2019]. That will not be occurring this time.”
Amy Pascal along with Feige is the producer of the film. The separation trauma referred to by him is mainly indicating the disagreement that has taken place in 2019 between Sony and Disney, one has the screen rights of Spider-Man and supporting characters and other owned Marvel Studios.
Since 1985, Sony has held all the characters of Marvel, but in 2015 the company has made an announcement along with Disney and Marvel that it would allow Spider-Man to be used in MCU films like Spider-Man: Far From Home and Avengers: Endgame. This deal has also allowed Feige alone to serve in Spider-Man movies.
Although, the studios have reconciled later due to the fan’s disapproval and anger. But the exact nature of the new deal is still not clear. Sony has been developing its own MCU-independent universe based on supporting Spidey characters like Venom and Morbius, and fans eventually expect a group of supervillains called Sinister Six to clash with Spidey.
It has come to know that Tom Holland is going to do at least one more trilogy of Spider-Man movies. Spider-Man 4 will mark its first-time live-action version of Spidey returns in the fourth film.
In the meantime, Spider-Man: No Way Home is breaking all the records of box office worldwide. It is also expected that Spider-Man: No Way Home is going to have the biggest theatrical opening worldwide after Avengers: Endgame and that too it is running on a reduced capacity in many cinema halls.
