Sony unveiled the Sony Xperia 5 V is available in a single storage option and comes in three different colors. It runs on an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and boasts a 5,000mAh battery with support for fast charging. This device is the successor to the Sony Xperia 5 IV, which was released in September 2022 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. However, unlike its predecessor, the new phone features a dual rear camera setup instead of a triple camera system.
The Upcoming Sony Xperia 5 V
Sony Xperia 5 V is priced at EUR 999 (approximately ₹89,700) for the 8GB + 256GB variant. It can be purchased in Black, Blue, or Platinum Silver color options and will start shipping in Europe, including the UK, later this month. Sony has not confirmed the launch of this model in India yet. Customers who buy the phone from major UK retailers between September 22 and October 26 will receive an exclusive Xperia 5 V launch bundle that includes Sony WH-CH720N headphones.
The Sony Xperia 5 V boasts a 6.1-inch full-HD+ OLED HDR display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. It runs on Android 13 and is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with an Adreno 740 GPU, 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
In terms of camera capabilities, the Sony Xperia 5 V features a dual rear camera setup, including a 52-megapixel primary Exmor T sensor and a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens. The front camera also has a 12-megapixel sensor.
The device is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery and supports 30W wired fast charging. It offers security through a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and supports 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, and USB 3.2 Type-C connectivity. It has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, includes a 3.5mm audio jack, and measures 154mm x 68mm x 8.6mm in size, weighing 182 grams.
