Sony will announce its new flagship, the Xperia 1 VII, at an event on May 13 at 4 a.m. CEST (10 p.m. IST). The news has been revealed in an official X (Twitter) post alongside a teaser poster featuring a smartphone profile. The launch will be live-streamed on Sony’s official YouTube channel, where the phone will be unveiled.

The handset will be the successor to the Xperia 1 VI that was announced in May 2024, with the Xperia 10 VI in certain global markets. Recently, model number XQ-FS54 (most likely Xperia 1 VII) showed up at Geekbench with the benefits of Helio 1380 processors optimized for gaming. It is likely to be powered by the company’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and 12GB RAM and may ship with new Android 15 from day one.
Other leaks claim the device was also listed on Taiwan’s NCC certification site, which showed colors of black, navy green, and purple. In terms of dimensions, it may come in taller only, at 165mm in height and 74mm in width, taller than the Xperia 1 VI. The Xperia 1 VII is also expected to include triple cameras at the back with a high-end Sony Exmor-T sensor. Its predecessor, the Xperia 1 VI, came with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
It’s based on Android 14 and includes a 6.5-inch full-HD+ OLED display with Bravia tuning, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 front protection. It offered a 48MP main Exmor T sensor, alongside ultrawide and telephoto 12MP sensors, a 12MP selfie shooter, and a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging.
