More About Snapdragon X Elite Gen 2

According to reports from sources like the forum DC Inside Qualcomm is looking into using an upgraded version of the Adreno 830 for the Snapdragon X Elite Gen 2. Previous speculations suggested that this enhanced Adreno 830 could offer performance around 10% better than Apple’s top-tier M2 chip in benchmarks like 3DMark Wild Life Extreme. This indicates that Qualcomm’s next-generation chipset could be poised for performance.

When it comes to CPU speed the current iteration designed for notebooks is said to outperform Apple’s M3 chip by up to 21% in multi-core performance tests on Geekbench 6. This hints at an improvement potential for the Snapdragon X Elite Gen 2 over its predecessor. However, as detailed information remains scarce at this stage it’s advisable to approach all these speculations with some degree of caution.

Qualcomm may be thinking about moving to the 3nm process for their chips. It’s unclear whether the Snapdragon X Elite Gen 2 will go through the same upgrade because of expensive wafers and uncertain yields.

Ultimately, the performance of the Snapdragon X Elite in compute and GPU tests will determine expectations for the upcoming chipset. If the current iteration falls short in various tests, there may be less excitement surrounding the Snapdragon X Elite Gen 2. Nevertheless, the prospect of an overclocked Adreno 830 is intriguing, especially considering rumors about the GPU’s performance in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
