Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 might be available with an ultra-high frequency version

Apple has announced its newest silicon with the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro max, as a result, advancements on the Android front are also speeding up. According to reports, Qualcomm, the top provider of chips for Android handsets, will introduce its newest flagship processor (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2) in November. Before any official announcement, a recent leak says the chip will be offered in an ultra-high frequency model with a CPU clock speed of 3.4-3.5GHz.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Specifications

The purported Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC will offer an ultra-high frequency variant with a clock speed between 3.4 and 3.5GHz, according to well-known leaker Digital Chat Station in a Weibo post. For comparison, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1’s Prime core runs at 3.19 GHz.

In comparison to its predecessor, the processor’s GPU will likewise experience a major increase. The excellent GPU performance in Android flagships will soon match that of Apple A-series CPUs, according to the leaker.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 could be used to refer to the alleged ultra-high frequency model. It is projected to be produced on TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing node and to have a quad-cluster architecture of 1+2+2+3.

One Arm Cortex-X3-based Kryo Prime CPU, two AMD A720-based Kryo Performance CPUs, two AMD A710-based Kryo Performance CPUs, and three Kryo Efficiency CPUs could all be found in the chipset (A510-based). The GPU for the Adreno 740 is also predicted.

Which mobile devices will employ the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2?

We don’t yet have confirmed models that will ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, but there are a number of potential options since the chipset itself hasn’t been disclosed.

According to earlier sources, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor may be among the first to be used in Xiaomi’s 13 series, Redmi K60 series, iQOO 11 series, and Vivo X90 series of smartphones.
The tipper also claimed that MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity chip would deliver yet another remarkable performance improvement, possibly bridging the gap between Dimensity and Snapdragon.
