Apple’s new Siri AI has quietly reached a new device. According to Beebom, it is now in beta on Apple TV 4K from the 2nd generation onwards.

The detail that got people talking is the hardware. These boxes run A12 and A15 chips with less than 8GB of RAM, and that raises a fair question about older iPhones.

What Beebom Reported

Beebom wrote that Siri AI now runs in beta on the Apple TV 4K, bringing it to devices powered by A12 and A15 chips with less than 8GB of RAM. It added that, technically, the iPhone XS and iPhone 13 could run it too.

That last line is the reporter’s inference, not an Apple statement. Apple has not said which iPhones will get Siri AI.

Why the Hardware Detail Matters

Many AI features on phones are tied to a minimum of 8GB of RAM, which leaves older models out. If Siri AI can run on a TV box with less memory, it shows the software does not strictly need that much, at least for the parts that run there.

Of course, the Apple TV version may lean on cloud processing or a lighter feature set. Without Apple’s own notes, we cannot tell how close the TV experience is to the phone one.

What It Means for You

If you own an older iPhone, nothing changes today. Keep an eye on Apple’s software notes and our Apple coverage for any widening of device support.

For Apple TV owners, check the beta settings on your box and remember that beta software can be unstable. See Siri on Wikipedia for the assistant’s background.

The Wider Context

Apple has historically gated new features by chip generation, which keeps older devices out of the mix. The fact that Siri AI on TV starts at the 2nd generation box suggests Apple is drawing the line at specific silicon, not just memory.

A wider rollout to older phones would be popular but would also add support costs. Users often ask for it after each new launch, and Beebom’s poll invited exactly that debate.

What Is Not Confirmed

The exact feature set on Apple TV compared with newer devices.
Whether processing happens on the device or in the cloud.

What Developers and Buyers Should Watch

For app developers, a Siri that reaches more devices means a bigger audience for voice features. If older chips can run it, the number of people who can use new voice actions grows, and that can change how developers prioritise support.

For buyers, the safest approach is to avoid upgrading only for a feature that has not been confirmed for your device. Wait for Apple’s compatibility list, and compare what the beta actually does on Apple TV with what Apple promises for phones.
