Silla’s Rise Begins: Inside “The Great King Munmu’s” First Script Reading

A historical epic decades in the making just took its first real breath. “The Great King Munmu” has released behind-the-scenes footage from its inaugural script reading, and the star-studded cast is already turning heads before a single scene has been filmed.

Directed by Kim Young Jo — known for Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth — the drama chronicles how the small kingdom of Silla rose against far stronger rivals, Goguryeo, Baekje, and the Tang dynasty of China, to eventually unify the Three Kingdoms of Korea.
