Off the field, Shikhar Dhawan is scoring a different kind of century. The Shikhar Dhawan Foundation (SDF), with CSR support from Human Mobile Devices (HMD), has announced a major expansion of its flagship Digital Shiksha initiative — rolling out across 10 Delhi government schools over the next six months and set to impact 20,000+ students and 800+ educators.

What Is Digital Shiksha?

At its core, Digital Shiksha is about transforming the traditional government school classroom into a future-ready learning environment — without leaving students or teachers behind. The programme installs state-of-the-art Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs) and HMD Smartphones in classrooms, paired with a licensed K–12 digital curriculum that brings subjects like science, mathematics, and languages to life through visual, interactive content.

It’s not just about handing out gadgets. The initiative comes with structured digital tools and training for educators — ensuring teachers are equipped and confident to actually use the technology effectively. That distinction matters. Technology in classrooms only works when the people using it are supported, and Digital Shiksha gets that right.

The programme is already active in 25+ schools across India, with over 20,000 students benefiting nationwide. This new phase doubles down on Delhi — where the partnership with the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi gives the initiative formal institutional backing and long-term scalability.

The Vision Behind the Initiative

Guided by Shikhar Dhawan — Arjuna Awardee and one of India’s most celebrated cricketers — the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation was founded in 2022 with a mission to improve access, opportunity, and quality of life for underserved communities across education, healthcare, hunger eradication, and livelihood development.

Sophie Dhawan, COO of Da One Group, captured the intent clearly: “Digital learning today is no longer an added advantage but an essential part of how students engage with education.” The focus, she emphasised, has always been on meaningful improvement — not just presence of technology, but actual impact on how students learn.

Anshita Gupta, CEO of Da One Group, pointed to scalability as the key goal: building digital learning models within public education systems that can be replicated and expanded without losing quality or impact.

For HMD’s part, Ravi Kunwar, CEO and VP – India, APAC & ANZ, reinforced the company’s belief that meaningful access to technology can be genuinely transformative — not just a headline.
