Sharmajee Ki Beti is an upcoming slice-of-life comedy film, and today it released a trailer.

Tahira Kashyap Khurrana is the writer and director of the film, which is presented by Applause Entertainment and produced by Ellipsis Entertainment Production. It features important roles for Vanshika Taparia, Arista Mehta, Sharib Hashmi, and Parvin Dabas in addition to the main cast of Sakshi Tanwar, Divya Dutta, and Saiyami Kher.

The film delves into the hopes, goals, and transformative experiences of a group of intergenerational middle-class women from various origins through a multigenerational story. The trailer for Sharmajee Ki Beti transports viewers to the lives of three extraordinary women, all of whom share the surname “Sharma,” each of whom is overcoming tough and unique problems. It promises an emotional and humorous rollercoaster.

Jyoti, a gem of the middle class, tries to strike a balance between her work and her roles as a wife and mother. Kiran, a vibrant housewife, moves from Patiala to Mumbai and finds her entire world turned upside down, yet this journey also reveals more about who she really is. Tanvi, a teenage cricket sensation who smacks sixes with ease, finds it difficult to persuade her fiance that her goals go beyond getting married. In addition, the teaser offers a quick look into the lives of two adolescent Sharma girls as they navigate the difficulties of maturing, including self-discovery and the mysteries of menstruation.

Writer and director Tahira Kashyap Khurrana said, “Sharmajee Ki Beti is a dream come true for me.” The film is significant to me not just because it is my first feature film as director, but also because it has given me the chance to delve further into a topic that is very near and dear to my heart: women’s empowerment. The humorous, lighthearted story emphasises the daily setbacks, victories, and variety of situations faced by middle-class women.

My own journey is reflected in each character, making it incredibly personal. I’m ecstatic to have worked with Ellipsis Entertainment and Applause Entertainment, whose assistance has been crucial in realising this vision. I’m also ecstatic that the movie will have an exclusive Prime Video premiere in India and beyond.

Sakshi Tanwar, who brings Jyoti Sharma to life in the film, shares, “When I first read the script, it stirred a multitude of emotions within me. Although she has a wonderfully supportive partner who believes in her dreams, she struggles with the tantrums and expectations of her teenage daughter. I believe audiences, not just women, in India and around the world will love the humorous and relatable take on important issues like gender roles, relationships, and personal identity. The sensitive portrayal of these themes will strike a chord with everyone.”
