The opening ceremony of the 2022 World Cup will see Colombian Singer Shakira perform alongside Black Eyed Peas and BTS. This year will mark the fourth time that Shakira has performed at the competition.
Her career skyrocketed in 2006, with ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ and ‘Bamboo’ accompanied by Wyclef Jean. But, the best was yet to come. Four years later, she performed ‘Waka Waka’ at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, which remains very fondly remembered.
Shakira to perform at 2022 World Cup opening ceremony
The 2014 World Cup saw Shakira perform at the closing ceremony, singing ‘La la la la la’, one of the theme songs of that edition. This year, the singer’s music has achieved great success, with Monotonia and Te felicito charting high on digital platforms.
2022 has also seen her end her relationship with Gerard Pique, and gain custody of her children as well. The attention that she has received from the mainstream media is also one of the reasons behind the relevance.
The Qatar edition of the World Cup will begin on November 20 with the host country in action against Ecuador. The opening ceremony will be held prior to the game, and promises to be very entertaining.
