Here is no doubt that it also had the surprise “Package” of the Summer that also was seen by millions worldwide. It seems that this series was mainly created by Stacy Rukeyser who has worked previously as the producer on UnREAL and Twisted. Let’s know more about this incredibly steamy web series from Netflix:

In the US, Nielsen tracked the viewing figures of the first season to be watched for 449 million minutes

“Well, to be honest with you, I was a bit scared and a bit turned on at the same time,” she told The Hollywood Reporter about accepting the role. “Emotionally, I was going to have to go to some pretty raw, vulnerable places that I hadn’t had the opportunity to do on screen before, and physically, it was a very revealing side of myself. The camera certainly lingers on the men for a couple of seconds longer than it lingers on me.”

The creator and showrunner of the series  Stacy Rukeyser said: “Sex/Life is a dream come true. To create a show about empowered female sexuality that has entranced so many millions of viewers is not only immensely fun but also incredibly gratifying.

“When I think about all the women who have reached out from all over the world to say that the show speaks to them in a deeply personal way, I am so inspired. I’m thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to continue telling this story for Billie, and for all of us.”

The first season of Sex/Life felt like it was pretty much cut and dried, with Billie returning to her husband and children, willing to live on in her suburban life. But then in the last couple of minutes, she changed her mind and decided to invest in the affair she’d been trying to fight after all.

This means there’s a lot to unpack with season two. But what’s going to happen and who’s returning to the series? Here’s everything we know so far.

Sex/Life (Season 2): Cast

On-and-off screen lovers Sarah Shahi and Adam Demos have both confirmed they will be back for the new episodes as Billie and Brad in Sex/Life (Season 2).

The first trailer shows Mike Vogel, who plays Billie’s husband Cooper, is also back as he takes on an illicit affair of his own with boss Francesca (Li Jun Li).

We should also expect the return of the cool and confident Margaret Odette, who plays Billie’s bestie, Sasha.

The other potential returns are Devon (Jonathan Sadowski) and his wife Trina (Amber Goldfarb), who tried to bring Billie and Cooper into their lives as swingers with raucous parties… only to get awkwardly called out for it when Billie and Cooper’s attempts at getting involved ended in disaster.

We’re also getting some new faces to the cast of Sex/Life (Season 2)!

In March 2022, it was announced Batwoman’s Wallis Day and Orphan Black’s Dylan Bruce will be coming into the fold of the complicated romance. The day will play a woman named Gigi, while Bruce will play someone called Spencer.

Also joining the cast are: UnREAL’s Craig Bierko, She’s Gotta Have It star Cleo Anthony as Kam, and Succession’s Darius Homayoun as Majid.

Sex/Life (Season 2): Plot

There was A LOT of back and forth in Sex/Life season one (and not just in the astronomical number of sex scenes).

Throughout the eight episodes, Billie was mentally flip-flopping between the stability and comfort of life with their husband Cooper, and the potential for something more exciting with her ex, Brad.

Despite numerous fantasies about her past sex life with Brad, she refused to succumb to his advances and stayed true to her husband. Then Cooper started getting all insecure and awkward about his own sexual prowess, and things started turning sour for them anyway.

While her relationship with Brad was turbulent and laced with pain, their sexual chemistry remains electric, even eight years down the line. At one point, the pair were also on the road to having a baby and getting hitched, so they’ve got a lot of history.

“It was really important that it was not an easy choice, and as the season goes on, the layers are peeled back on both of the men and you understand why Brad is the way that he is and what was the trouble in their relationship, but also what was the trauma that he was dealing with,” Rukeyser told, “Hopefully people will go back and forth over the course of the season.”

In an interview with Adam Demos expanded on why Brad is still drawn to Billie despite the years they spent apart:

“I think when you figure out what’s gone on in the past as well, and the fact that their relationship discovers a lot of those issues, then you understand where he’s coming from. You understand that there are walls up for a reason and that it’s only her that could break through.

“So that’s what I loved about it; to try to find the pureness of him and his vulnerability, because that makes all the cool and the calm and the casual stuff. He’s layered, and he’s got some things that he hasn’t dealt with. And that’s what’s so important about their relationship too: that she’s the only one that’s forced him to look at that.”

When they do get hot and heavy, Billie loses herself in the moment but it’s Cooper, time and time again, who is wrapped up in his own thoughts and unable to surrender to the moment.

“Over long relationships, we develop blind spots; we develop these areas where you think you’ve created this perfect life and this perfect marriage and this perfect family and perfect home,” Vogel told ScreenRant.

“I think that’s where Cooper is. He says, ‘Okay, I’ve got this taken care of. We’ve got the kids taken care of. Let’s concentrate over here on the career and this other thing.’ And in doing so, he doesn’t realize these feelings that have been stirring in his wife.”

But while Billie did stay true to her husband for the entire run, she decided to throw caution to the wind and give things a go with Brad properly in the final seconds, telling him she had no intention of leaving her family behind, but couldn’t let him go either.

But Cooper had a tracker on her phone and realized that she was at Brad’s house. Devastated, he instead decided to start an affair of his own with his boss. So basically… they’re both as bad as each other. Unless they decide to give the concept of an open marriage a shot in which case, each to their own.

Sex/Life (Season 2): Netflix has Promised the Incredible Drama Series will Become Warmer and Sexier

However, romantic dramas rarely listen to reason in this situation, and the chances are they’re about to both try and keep their affairs a secret from each other, even though they don’t particularly need to.

Or will we witness a complete 180, with Billie initially settled with Brad, before longing for her life with Cooper? Will she ever feel fully satisfied? Is that even possible?

“You know, I feel like the whole point about Billie, it wasn’t necessarily about this guy or that guy because I think we’re better than that and I think as women we need to get out of the age-old tale of our lives are defined through a man,” Shahi told Entertainment Tonight.

“I want Billie to find the version of herself [when] she is the happiest and the freest, and I hope she can do that without the help of any man, no matter who she’s with.

“I just hope that these stories continue to spiral even more down the rabbit hole that they already have. There’s just a circus of things to explore with her, so I just hope we get another chance to do it again.”

Sasha, too, has transitioned into a new and exciting phase in her own life. She recently published a book, which will obviously be a monumental success, and she’s also engaged. But Sasha is as freewheeling as they come, so we’re not holding our breath for a season two wedding.

Rukeyser even discussed the possibility of a “Sasha Snow spin-off” in an interview with ScreenRant.

“I think everybody has that origin story of what has made you who you are. And I think that Sasha is such an unapologetic woman that it would be really exciting to get to understand how she came to be that way,” she said.

The season one finale ended on a bit of a cliffhanger – with Brad yet to respond to Billie’s proposition. We can’t guess what he’ll say next, and neither can Rukeyser.

“I don’t know what Brad is going to say to her,” the actor said. “He really put his heart out there on the driveway and proposed a happily-ever-after to her, and that is not what she’s proposing to him.

“I’m not sure if Brad will say yes to that or not. But that’s what we’re hoping to get a chance to explore in season two.”

“It’s such a complex situation,” Shahi said. “I just hope that if we do get to season two, we can continue down the rabbit hole because it sure is messy to play. It’s fun to play, and I think it’s just incredibly real.”
