Seungkwan Joins “The Great Escape” — Kang Ho Dong Passes The Torch

Grab your magnifying glass, K-drama fans — “The Great Escape” is back, and it’s bringing a fresh face along for the ride. On August 5, CJ ENM confirmed a brand-new season of the beloved adventure variety show, and this time, SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan joins the cast as its newest member.

What’s Happening With The Great Escape New Season?

The show returns with a new season set to premiere in the second half of 2026. For the uninitiated, “The Great Escape” is an adventure variety show where the cast works together to solve elaborate escape room challenges — think teamwork, wit, and a whole lot of chaotic fun.

Since premiering on tvN in 2018, the show aired four seasons through 2021, cementing itself as a fan favorite. It later continued as the TVING original “The Great Escape: The Story,” which expanded the show’s scale and storytelling.

The New Cast Lineup

A bittersweet twist: original cast anchor Kang Ho Dong is stepping back. He’s chosen to pass the baton to his fellow cast members, cheering them on from the sidelines. In his farewell note, he shared that every moment on the show brought him joy, and trusted his juniors’ imagination and wisdom to carry the season forward — leaving them with one last clue-hunting mantra to live by.

Where To Watch

The new season of “The Great Escape” will premiere on TVING in the second half of 2026. Until then, fans can catch Ko Kyung Pyo in “Love in Contract” and Seungkwan in “NANA TOUR with SEVENTEEN,” both streaming on Viki.
