It is the end of an era for Real Madrid as the club has officially announced that Sergio Ramos will be leaving. Here is what the official press release read from Madrid:

“Real Madrid C. F. announces that tomorrow, Thursday 17 June, at 12:30 p.m., an institutional act of tribute and farewell to our captain Sergio Ramos will be held, which will be attended by our president Florentino Pérez.

Sergio Ramos will then appear before the media in a virtual press conference.”

Ramos was recently seen at the Valdebebas, meeting Florentino Perez. While there were rumours that an agreement had been reached since both of them appeared ‘satisfied’, it now turns out that they were sorting out their final affairs as part of the same team.

The Spaniard was adamant on his demands for a two-year contract extension. However, according to the club policy, Real were only willing to offer him one since that is the norm for any player over 30. The legendary centre-back’s contract expires at the end of this month, and he will be leaving Real Madrid after a spell of 16 years as a free agent.

Nothing has been confirmed as of yet regarding Sergio Ramos’ next destination. PSG is the only club that has made contact with his agent regarding talks with Madrid. His former club Sevilla have reportedly offered him a staggering five-year deal, while Manchester City are also interested in bringing him over if possible. The 35-year-old will elaborate on his decision in the press conference being held tomorrow.
