Sergio Oliveira has arrived in Rome ahead of his transfer to Roma. The player is set to complete his medical before being announced as a new player for the club.

The 29-year-old central midfielder is the second addition to Jose Mourinho’s squad in the winter transfer window, after Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The former Arsenal man made his debut for his new club in the defeat against Juventus.

The player has left his boyhood club, Porto, on several occasions before as part of a loan deal. And he is back on the move again this season, with the option for a permanent transfer as well. He has made 24 appearances for Porto across all competitions this season, scoring five and assisting one.

Since making his debut for the Portuguese national team in 2018, Sergio Oliveira has earned 18 caps for them, and could prove to be a fine addition to his compatriot’s squad.

Luis Diaz is one of the other heavily rumoured transfer targets from Porto, with Newcastle and Liverpool interested in him. But, the club will not be selling the forward in the January transfer window.
