Schitt’s Creek Star Returns: Annie Murphy’s Twisted New Netflix Thriller Poser

Schitt’s Creek fans, prepare for a drastically different Annie Murphy! The Emmy-winner trades comedy for psychological thrills in Netflix’s Poser, a twisted tale of obsession and betrayal between former best friends.

Poser: Overview

What’s Poser About?

Two estranged former best friends reunite, triggering a psychological game of revenge and betrayal. When one receives a chance to live the life she’s coveted—and potentially discover why their friendship imploded—dark secrets surface that will forever alter their lives and everyone around them.

It’s a premise promising tension, manipulation, and morally complex characters that define great psychological thrillers.

Star-Studded Cast

Annie Murphy captured hearts (and an Emmy) as Alexis Rose in Schitt’s Creek, then showcased dramatic range in Netflix’s Russian Doll and Black Mirror. Poser marks her return to Netflix in a leading role revealing new dimensions of her talent.

Sadie Stanley brings rising star power. Fresh off Karate Kid: Legends, she’s proven versatility in Cruel Summer, The Goldbergs, and Netflix’s dark comedy Dead to Me.

Daisy Jelley rounds out the trio with impressive credentials from How to Have Sex, Marked Men, and Netflix’s Geek Girl.

Lauren Iungerich’s Vision

Creator Lauren Iungerich serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer through Crazy Cat Lady Entertainment. Her character-driven narrative expertise positions Poser as one of Netflix’s most anticipated thrillers.

Executive producer Jamie Dooner ensures production quality matches the series’ ambitious psychological scope.

Production Timeline

Filming kicks off March 2026 and wraps June 2026—a solid four-month shoot. Given this timeline, expect Poser to arrive on Netflix in 2027, likely mid-to-late year after post-production polish.

This extended schedule suggests a visually ambitious series perfecting psychological tension and character development.

Why Poser Could Dominate 2027

The combination of proven talent, psychologically complex premise, and Netflix’s commitment to quality thrillers creates serious buzz. Similar to You and The Perfect Couple, Poser explores relationship darkness with female-driven narrative.

Murphy’s comedy-to-thriller transition mirrors successful transformations in streaming’s golden age. Her dramatic chops combined with Stanley and Jelley’s emerging talent creates dynamics that could define Netflix’s 2027 slate.

Mark 2027—this friendship reunion is unmissable.
