SC East Bengal and Hyderabad FC played out a 1-1 draw to share a point in the ISL. The Nizams are now in second place with 12 points from seven games while SC East Bengal are at the bottom of the pile with 4 points from 8 games this season. Here are the three key talking points from this game:
Missed opportunity for Hyderabad FC
Hyderabad FC dominated possession, and had 59% of the ball during the game. They put in 21 crosses and registered six shots on target in the 90 minutes. However, they were unable to beat Arindam Bhattacharja more than once, with the keeper making five saves to keep his side in the game.
Finally some resolute defending
East Bengal did enough to survive and salvage a point against a team that is challenging for the title. The saves from Arindam Bhattacharja were instrumental in doing so. The entirety of the backline was on alert against the threatening Hyderabad attack, who were not able to take advantage of all the chances they created.
The winless run continues
East Bengal continue to be at the bottom of the table with no wins from eight games this season. We are almost halfway done with the ongoing campaign, and are yet to see the scoreline in favour of the Red and Gold outfit.
Despite being without Antonio Perosevic and Franjo Prce, two key players, the team collectively have something to be optimistic about now.
