The OLED research from UBI Researches confirms that the South Korean Tech Giant, Samsung is going to launch three foldable smartphones in 2021. The OLED Research firm also reveals that Samsung was preparing three types of foldable OLED panels, which gives us a clear indication that the company is going to launch three foldable devices, include- Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Fold Lite, and Z Flip 2.
According to the source, all these three foldable devices will use next-generation ultra-thin glass as the cover window. The upcoming foldable devices also feature LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) technology and thin-film transistors (TFT) due to the reduction in power consumption.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will sport a 7-inches primary display and a 4-inches secondary display whereas the predecessor Galaxy Z Fold 2 has a bigger secondary display of 6.2-inches. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will feature an under-display selfie camera. The Galaxy Z Fold Lite will be the budget model of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The Galaxy Z Fold Lite will also have the same display size as the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
According to the source, Samsung was researching ultra-thin glasses with a thickness of 60 or 100 micrometers. That is thicker than the glasses that are used in the previous foldable devices this year, which had a thickness of 30 micrometers, which allows for the glass to be more flexible but cannot handle the pressure from a pen point without leaving a mark. 60 micrometers or thicker glasses can able to handle the pressure but is less flexible.
The Galaxy Z Fold Lite may not offer the under-display selfie camera and may be equipped with the cheaper internal for the lower price point. The source also reveals that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have an S Pen support.
