Samsung Teases Galaxy S25, Delayed XR Device, and Affordable Foldable for 2025

Samsung has offered a glimpse into its roadmap for 2025 by showcasing details, about the Galaxy S25 lineup and teasing a postponed XR gadget, alongside a possible budget-friendly foldable smartphone alternative.

In the Q3 earnings report, for 2024 released by Samsung recently; the division responsible for its smartphone business marked a profit of KRW 3.37 trillion and mentioned expectations of moderate growth in the upcoming quarter ahead. Samsung plans to prioritize boosting sales of high-end products and improving its AI strategy to stay competitive in the market.

The report also mentioned the release of the Galaxy S25 series, by Samsung, in the half of next year. This follows the launch timeline of the Galaxy S24 series that debuted in January. Samsung’s future plans also alluded to the launch of an “XR (eXtended reality) device” in 2025 the anticipated release this year. The XR device was created in collaboration, with Google. Operates on a Qualcomm chip using Android software.

Although a developer version of the device was expected to be available in October according to reports it seems that it hasn’t materialized yet hinting at a delay, in the device’s official release. There have been speculations, about the XR device being a set of smart glasses as suggested by Qualcomm; however, Samsung has not disclosed any specific details regarding the features or release timeline of the product yet.

In another conversation via @Jukanlosreve Samsung also hinted at the launch of a budget foldable smartphone model. The company explained that it is “exploring ways to lower entry barriers so that more customers can experience foldable products,” while also working on “new form factors.” Samsung had initially rejected the notion of foldable devices; however, the increasing sales of foldable phones might prompt a change in their approach. These actions show Samsung’s commitment to premium products and their efforts to attract a range of consumers in the market.
